This was home. It was heaven—being in his arms, our lips dancing together, our bodies flushed against one another, his yummy scent wrapped around me, his warmth seeping into me.
He liked it as much as I did. His body’s response didn’t lie, his thick hardness pressed against my own. His girth and length matched his body and I couldn’t wait to unwrap it.
I jumped up, wrapping my legs around him, holding on, not wanting to let go. He took three steps forward until my back was against the wall, leaving no space between us.
It was everything I wanted. Everything I needed. And not enough at the same time.
Using one arm to stay locked with him, I reached my free hand forward, pulled to feel his tusk, dancing my finger along it.
He kissed me so completely, moaning into my mouth as my fingers grazed his tusk, his tongue exploring my mouth, his teethgrazing my lips, his tenderness letting all of his passion through. I wanted it to never end.
And then, just like that, I was on the ground, and he had taken two steps back.
“We need to slow this.”
I nodded. If he wanted to be done, we were done. But also…. His eyes were filled with heat. This wasn’t about not wanting to be with me.
“There are traditions. There are rules I need to follow.”
I had not been expecting that.
“Okay.” My voice trembled, wondering if maybe I did something wrong. “I’m sorry. I didn’t—I mean, I did—but also, I’m sorry.” My apology was making not a lick of sense.
“No, no, no.” And once again, he was close to me. His hand cupped my cheek, enveloping the entire side of my face.
“It is nothing you did. I want this as much as you do. Trust me, I do. But my kind…before we go further, before any of this, I need to bring you to meet my parents.”
“You want to introduce me to your parents?” I’d never been a meet-the-parents kind of boyfriend, and here he was wanting to introduce me after one date.
“Yeah. More than anything.” He pressed his forehead against mine.
“What if they don’t like me?” I was an office worker who had a small apartment and an unhealthy obsession with their kind. Nothing about me shouted perfect partner for their son. If anything, I was red flag central.
“Oh, trust me. They’ll like you.”
“Did they like your…others?” I didn’t know why I asked. It wasn’t that I wanted to know about anyone else other than me. Sure, he dated others, just like I had, but having that knowledge someplace in the back of your mind was a whole lot different than having them be real in the way I was asking.
“I never brought anybody to meet them before.” He kissed me. “Only you.”
All of this was a lot to absorb, but hearing that…it made everything else not matter as much.
“Wow.” I wasn’t sure what else to even say about that.
“I should probably be going now.”
I nodded. As much as I hated it, he had a point. If he stayed much longer, my willpower was going to wane. And if he wanted me to meet his parents before going any further, staying here was just going to be torture for us both.
“Call me?”
“For sure.” He smiled. “I’ll talk to my parents soon and make arrangements.”
“Tell your mom how much I liked the bread.” Maybe that would give me a better chance of being fully accepted. Thrain didn’t seem at all worried, but they already loved him.
I knew they didn’t mind humans. His father was one. But still, I couldn’t help but worry.
“We’ll go to your village soon?” Because the sooner we did, the sooner I could know where I stood with his family and if we could really have the future I was longing for.
“Yeah. That sounds good.”
