Jamie’s quiet for a moment. “What else did you do today?”

I can’t help the fluttery feeling in my chest. While I’ve had crushes aplenty, there’s something so different about this. “Not much, really. I applied to a few places. What about you?”

“I can’t promise anything, but I can ask my mom if they have room at the library. Last I knew, someone had quit. She’s looking for a clerk.”

“Really?!”

“I mean, I’ll ask tomorrow and let you know. It’s not too farfrom here. Or me, rather.”

That would be incredible. A library! I’ll walk if I need to, I don’t mind. “Thank you.”

It’s quiet for a moment. “I turned down another person for the room.”

Elation fills me but I try to contain it. “It’s because they don’t know your interview style, isn’t it?”

“Noah—”

“I think I interviewed the hell out of you.”

He barks out a laugh and I wish I could see his face. “It was a great interview.”

“I have to say, you had the best interview I’ve ever seen.” Jamie’s laugh peters out at my comment. “Do you think you could? With me?”

“Live with you or interview you?”

“Both.”

“I think I could do both.”

“Is that what Hunter did to get the room?”

“Oh, god no.”

“I can’t take another night of this.”

“They are loud. I remember.”

“So loud, and for what? Who are they trying to impress?” Shaking my head, I sigh. “What’s worse is, it’s starting to turn me on. That’s how I know I need to leave.”

“That’s gross.”

“I know! I’m serious though. I don’t like listening to it night after night. I haven’t come in weeks, but it shouldn’t make me feel a type of way. My dick is defective.” I smile at his warm laugh. “Oh, I’m sorry, not all of us got a superior interview a couple of weeks ago.”

“Who did?”

“You, asshole.” Jamie laughs harder. “I sucked your dick so good, and you know it.”

“I’ll give you that. It was so good.”

“Good?”

“Superior,” he corrects.

Although we’re joking I can’t help but ask. “Do you still think about it?”

He’s quiet for a moment and I nearly check to see if the call dropped out. “Every day...” he whispers. “And night.”

Listening down the hall and not hearing a sound, I dare. “Yeah?” Whispering, “You touch yourself thinking about it?”
