First, the beach house, and now this apartment. Some would say never look a gift horse in the mouth, but those people usually got themselves killed.

“I’ll organize things,” Cassian said, already tapping away on his phone. “We’ll leave as soon as the girls depart.”

“What about your father?” His lip curled up with disdain as he rubbed his jaw. “He knows I’m done with him. Now I have access to the money in my grandma’s trust, I’m not financially dependent on him.” He smiled for a moment before frowning. “But I do need to figure out a way to remove my mother from the clinic she’s locked up in.”

“Clinic?” Dario’s brow scrunched in confusion.

“Never mind. That’s my problem,” Cass said dismissively.

“No, it’s our problem,” I reminded him. We were a family now. One for all and all for one, as Landon liked to say. Or some such shit.

“Milo’s working on it. Once he figures out a plan, I’m going to get her out and put her somewhere my father can’t touch her.”

“Once you have a plan, we’ll help,” I reminded him. Lucian was a monster, so if he’d stashed his vulnerable wife in some dubious psych clinic, there was zero chance she was receiving appropriate medical care.

“We can all help,” Dario said. “I’m sure Thea would want in on any rescue operation. She has a lot of experience doing undercover stuff.”

“Thea is not getting involved,” I snapped. “She will not be doing anything dangerous until she’s delivered my child!”

“Thea will do whatever the fuck she wants!” my kitten snapped from the doorway. I noted the glass of fruit smoothie in her hand and smiled. I’d ordered all kinds of healthy foods for her, to ensure she got the right nutrition. Seeing her drink the kale, ginger, and orange smoothie I’d put in the refrigerator yesterday made me happy.

“Calm down, kotenok,” I purred, rushing across the room to pull her into my arms. “Getting stressed is bad for our baby.”

“I’d be careful if I were you,” Dario warned just as Thea tossed the smoothie in my face.

“That’s for being a controlling bastard,” she snarled. “Now is someone going to tell me what the fuck you’re planning?” She folded her arms, pushing her tits up - something all three of us noticed - while tapping her foot.

Pulped fruit dripped down my face, staining my shirt a nasty shade of orange. But I just grinned and adjusted my dick. Angry Thea was so fucking sexy.

“I’ll let Cassian explain,” I said. Someone needed to call the housekeeping team to clean this mess up before it stained the floor.

“Are you sure you’re not coming back?” Eden passed me a cupcake decorated with pink frosting. It looked too good to eat, but I needed sugar, so I took a huge bite. This baby clearly had a sugar craving. At least that was my excuse, and I was sticking to it.

“I doubt my father paid a full year’s fees, so I can’t afford to come back.” And besides, I had no interest whatsoever in studying more bullshit business modules.

“I’m so sad. I’ll have no friends if you abandon me.” Her lip wobbled as she teared up.God. Eden had a master’s degree in emotional blackmail. “And I have to see that asshole, Michael.”

“I can pay him a visit if you like?” He deserved a throat punch at the very least. I had trusted him not to hurt my friend, and he fucked up. In my book, that meant war.

“Nah, he’s not worth it.” She twirled a lock of freshly dyed pink hair around her finger. “Plenty more guys out there.” A small smirk told me she already had one in mind.

“Oh?”

“I may have been …chatting… to a guy called James. He slid into my DMs after I posted a photo from the club on New Year’s Eve. Said he loved my dress.” It had been a spectacular dress, so no surprise there. Eden was a true fashionista, unlike me, who didn’t know my Gucci from my Temu. “We’ve been messaging ever since.”

“Where does he live?”

“He says he’s from Edinburgh. Reckons he’ll drive over to the campus when I get back and take me out for lunch.”

“Is he hot and have you told Declan?”

“The picture he sent was hot, and hell no. Declan would send armed men to accompany me, and that’s hardly a good start to any situationship. The poor guy would never want to see me again.”

I understood where she was coming from. She’d probably had her cousins acting like overprotective gorillas her whole life. However, I was concerned that she might be putting herself in danger by meeting a random dude off the internet. For a mafia princess, Eden was remarkably reckless.
