“That’s what you get for acting like a big, dumb jock. And by the way, I havenointerest in you.”
Trevor’s glare sent a chill down my spine.
“Abig, dumb jocklike me…” He repeated my words slowly, leaning forward with a deliberate intensity. “Not for someone like you, huh?”
“Exactly,” I said, keeping my voice steady even as my pulse quickened.
He sighed again, this time resting his forearms on the table and leaning closer to me. “If I’m not mistaken, I caught you looking at me during last week’s practice.”
“So?”
“So, what is it exactly that you were interested in, hm?” He asked, his voice dropping into a low, teasing drawl.
“Not you,” I shot back, refusing to look away.
“Your eyes are telling me something different,” He pressed, that infuriating grin still in place.
I turned back to my laptop. “Such abasic jockthing to say.”
He leaned even closer, until his body almost enveloped me. “You act all frustrated with me, but…” His breath fanned my neck and a shiver rolled down my body when I felt his mouth near the sensitive spot where my jaw met my ear. “I don’t think you’re all that mad to be stuck with me.”
His voice was lower. Smoother.Darker.
I felt it drip steadily down my body, pulsing directly where I was squeezing my thighs together.
I swallowed. “Really?”
“Mhm.” I practically heard the hungry smirk on his lips. “Especially this late at night…”
Turning to him, our faces were so close together, it made my lips tingle. “You’re so self-obsessed,” I breathed out.
Without looking away, his hand found my necklace, pulling me closer as his rough fingers moved down the dainty chain. “Me? Us being the last ones in the library… You probably planned this.”
My eyes melted into his darker ones, my heart beating at a steady slow rhythm in sync with the one between my legs. His knuckles grazing down my cleavage and setting my skin on fire…
The faint hum of the fluorescent lights overhead suddenly stopped. They flickered before burning out, drowning the entire library and our study room into darkness. The glow of my laptop screen was the only source of light.
I glanced up, my throat tightening. “What the hell?”
“Guess we know what time they close now,” Trevor murmured.
I stood, crossing to the door and trying the handle. Stuck. When I pushed, nothing happened. I pushed harder, but it still wouldn’t budge.
“What are you doing?”
“The door’s stuck,” I said, panic creeping into my voice.
Trevor’s chair creaked as he stood, his larger frame towering over mine as he tried the door himself. “They’re electric. Automatic smart-lock for security…”
“What?”
“Looks like we’re locked in.”
“Locked in?” I repeated, my heart pounding. “How could we be locked in? There were other people here earlier.”
“Yeah. Hours ago. The janitor must’ve not seen us.”
I took a step back, trying to steady my breathing. “Okay, call someone. Call campus security… Anyone.”
