“Now tell me, what were you thinking about before all this talk of babies? What is worrying you?”

“I’m thinking about what happened yesterday at my family home and how it affects me, us, our marriage. What is expected of me now? What should this year we have together be about? And what did my father and brother tell you last night? Senya, I need answers.”

He is silent for a long moment as he drags his fingertips up and down my spine. “OK, I will answer a couple of specific questions only. One of the questions cannot be broad like, ‘what did you all discuss yesterday?’ Think about what you really want to know, and I will answer you.”

I sit up and look at him. “Senya, why must we play this game? Why can’t you just tell me everything?”

“Because, Precious, it is too much to tell. Trust me. This way is more manageable.”

I think for a moment. “Will I be able to ask you more questions at a later date?”

He nods slowly. “Yes, but I will determine when that is. Not because I am trying to boss you around, but because I am trying to protect you.”

“OK. I know what my first question is. I know that you’ve got my back. This home is like a fortress and your entire body is a weapon. But are my father and brother safe from the threat? Are they in real danger?”

Senya answers right away. “Yes, they are safe. I have provided elite security forces for them from Dubai. You will also have a bodyguard. They are also having enhanced security installed as we speak. As for this home, it is not really a fortress. It is also too close to the city. We will relocate to my home on Bobiri land outside of Kumasi. It is not as luxurious as this place, but it is a home that I welcome you to. It also doubles as a safe house. You will be safer there. I also want to take you on a brief honeymoon to the Maldives. I need to buy some time before the Apeagyeis find out we are married and confront your father.”

I move to the edge of the bed and cross my legs in front of me. “We’re going to the Maldives? I love it there.”

Senya chuckles as he runs his hand through my hair. “I know—that is why I am taking you there. I also want to see you in a very small bikini that I can flick off of you at my pleasure. I want your pussy wet and waiting for me at all times, because I promise you my cock will always be at your ready.”

I feel the heat rise in my cheeks. “Senya, you’re so nasty and I love it.”

“I know. Now, ask me your final question for today.”

“Is my father really broke? How bad is it? How will he live?”

Senya nods. “Yes, he is. It is pretty bad. I cannot go into the details of why he is broke right now, but you should know that his fortunes may never recover. However, as long as I am living, I will never let your kin go without. Do not worry. They are my family too now. Even if they are on my shit list.”

“Why are you so good to me, Senya?”

He sits up and stretches his arms high above his head. He stands from the bed and faces me in all his naked glory, His dick is pointing at me, begging me to suck it. I think about it, but Senya finally speaks. “Because I love you, Abena. You know that. Even if you deny it out of fear.”

He’s right. I’m scared stupid. If I had any sense, I’d forget Australia and let Senya love me any way he sees fit. But I just can’t.

Senya stretches his hand out to me. “Come, Abena, we will take a shower and get ready for our day. We have a lot to do and you need to pack. We are heading to Bobiri in less than two hours. I do not want any trace of you left behind in this home in case someone comes looking for you.”

My heart skips a beat for two reasons: One, he has said a lot of things to me, but never that he loves me. I don’t know if that’s a good thing. It is very scary. Second, I shiver at the thought of people rummaging through our home looking for me. It’s crazy. I reach out and tug on Senya’s arm. “Do you think that will really happen? Will they come here looking for me?”

“If they know you are here, yes. But don't worry, we will be long gone. Now come, I want to bathe your beautiful body.” I finally stand and take his hand as he leads me in front of him. He slaps my ass as I run to the bathroom and chases me into the shower. Once my back is against the wall, he turns a knob. Immediately four rain shower heads pour hot water into the shower and he pulls me into a kiss.

“How does it feel to be the wife of a prince, Mrs. T’ogbe?” Senya whispers against my ear.

I plant soft kisses down his neck. “It feels like this is where I belonged all along.”

Home

Senya

The drive from Accra to the outskirts of Bobiri should take no more than one hour and a half. But with Accra traffic, it takes Abena and I almost three hours to reach the Bobiri forest reserve. I sent my driver, Christian, ahead in a separate vehicle because I want to drive Abena to the land myself. Currently I have my hand on her thigh as I drive, and it feels as natural as breathing.

Abena looks amazing. She’s wearing a beautiful yellow sun dress with thin straps and a long flowing skirt. The color reflects off her milk chocolate skin to create an aura of beauty around her. She accessorized perfectly with what seems like a million gold bangles up her right and left arms. Her ears are adorned with large hooped gold earrings. The little minx even stole one of my many pairs of Louis Vuitton sunglasses. The Le Boum shades are my signature. She swiped a pair from my drawer and bounced past me, announcing she wanted us to match. It was cute.

She is quiet this morning, and I’m grateful for the silence. My mind is racing. Abena has no idea that she is at the center of a blood feud fueled by evil men and religious zealots. She still thinks her problem can be solved with money, but I know it cannot. I feel like a liar. But, I can’t risk her inserting herself into the solution. I will keep her safe no matter the potential fallout. Once I’ve cut the head off the snakes chasing her, I will tell her everything.

As we drive deeper into the forest, we pass the entrance to Kofi and Ella’s house. You cannot see it from any of the main roads, but if you know what access road to take, you can easily get there. I will take Abena to dinner there when we return from the Maldives.

Tonight we will eat at home and fly out first thing in the morning. I need to call all my security and intelligence contacts before we leave to ensure all safety measures are in place for her extended family. The more I dig into the Apeagyeis, the more uncomfortable I get. Their family is tied to many girl kidnappings in the region. No charges ever stick to them, but the girls are never found again.
