“Taking our wet clothes off,” Trey told her.

Her eyes widened when they started taking off their jeans. “You guys can’t be naked in here.”

Garrett snorted. “You’d rather us sleep in wet clothing? That’s unhealthy.”

Her eyes narrowed on him. He was enjoying her discomfort a bit too much.

“We’ll have our underwear on,” Trey said.

That wasn’t helping. She tried her best to ignore them, but it was impossible to do with them surrounding her. They piled their clothing in the corners where they were keeping their boots.

She plopped onto her back and brought the blanket up so it covered everything but the upper part of her face. She watched as they pulled their sleeping bags out of their backpacks and spread them out.

“Why don’t I scoot over to the side?”

Both men shook their heads.

“No. You’re fine where you are,” Trey said.

She sighed but didn’t say anything else. She told herself she only had to deal with the situation for a few hours, and they’d be sleeping for most of that. She could handle that. Right?

Chapter Fourteen

Trey tried to act nonchalant, hoping that would help settle her. He made small talk with his brother, watching her relax. He spread out his bag and rolled into it.

“Good night,” he said and turned so his back was to her. He saw Garrett do the same thing and smiled.

“Good night,” she murmured.

He tried not to laugh at the surprise and confusion in her tone.

He was wiped out. They’d had a long day of meetings, and when they got home, they were told Madelyn had gone to help with the group going camping. They decided to take this opportunity to be with her. They grabbed their gear, saddled up, and started up the mountain at a fast clip. He knew there was a storm on the way and wanted to be at the campsite before it started.

This was a chance they couldn’t pass up to be alone with her. They needed time to break down the wall she had built around herself and cement their relationship. She left in six weeks, and he wanted them to live together and for her to understand she was staying.

Oh, they would let her go if she hated the idea of being with them or living on the ranch, but he didn’t think that would happen. He’d caught the look in her eyes when she watched them, thinking they didn’t see her. He’d also heard her appreciation of the area and how beautiful it was.

Trey listened to her move around. When he heard the chatter, it took him a moment to realize what it was. He turned to face her and saw she was practically buried in her sleeping bag. He watched Garrett turn with a confused frown.

“Maddy, Baby, are you cold?” Trey asked

“I’m fine. Just go to sleep.”

He barely heard her through the thick bag.

“How do you expect us to sleep with all the noise?” Garrett asked.

Trey rolled his eyes. Fuck, his brother was a dickhead sometimes. “Baby,” he said and laid a hand on her hip. “You’re going to freeze to death if you don’t let us help.”

Madelyn peeked over the edge of the bag. “How?”

“We’ll put our blankets together. We’ll lay on yours and use both mine and Garrett’s to cover all of us. The heat from our bodies will help you.”

He could see her debating it in her head, but she really didn’t have a choice. He just wanted her to come to that conclusion herself. If anything, the sound got louder, and the bag was shaking.

“Let us help before you get hypothermia,” Garrett said.

“Okay,” she said.
