“Five minutes,” he barks on the other side of the door.

I stand there like an idiot for at least two of those minutes trying to comprehend what the fuck just happened. As I come out of my stupor, I grab a pair of yoga pants and a comfortable tank top. I don’t really care if everyone is going to be dressed up or whatever. I grab my smaller laptop and then move into the adjoining door.

“Kash?”

He’s not in the room. Then I hear something from the bathroom. I hear a moan and then my name. I move toward the bathroom. I hear the shower running and another moan. The door is cracked and I can’t help but look inside. It’s wrong. I’m spying. I should just go back to my side until he’s ready, but I can’t help it. I want to know.

I look in through the ajar door. There in the mirror Kash is standing in front of it, his hand wrapped around his oversized dick, stroking it. His eyes are closed and his mouth is open like he’s so close. His hand moves faster and faster, and I’m transfixed watching him. I want to see him come. He’s fully dressed aside from his pants that are currently around his ankles.

His eyes open and then meet mine in the mirror. I don’t shy away this time. I hold his gaze. Then he’s groaning loudly as he sprays the sink with his seed. He gives a couple more strokes and then releases his cock.

“Enjoy the show?” he asks.

“Yes, I did. Wouldn’t it have been better with my mouth wrapped around it?” I say with an angry taunt in my voice. I turn around and leave him to clean up before he can say anything else.

I feel all kinds of hot and bothered. My pussy is throbbing with need, worse than it already was, lit up after his stupid, magical kiss. I pace and try to cool myself down and think of something else, anything else other than Kashton’s dick.

“Let’s go, perv,” Kash says, his tone teasing.

I turn around and I’m glad his back is to me. I’m not ready to look him in the eye again. I realize that our kiss must’ve turned him on so much that he had to jack off before we went to meet with everyone.

That’s crazy to me. I’ve never had a guy be so turned on by me like that. Now we’re headed to hang out with a bunch of dragon shifters. At least he got some fucking relief. I’m just going to have to suffer.

We make our way to the penthouse of the hotel. “What are we doing up there?” I ask.

“Jerrick’s suite is up there. It’s big enough for us and we can’t be interrupted unless someone is given the code that shouldn’t have it.”

“Where’s Jasmine?”

“She’s in a holding cell in the basement. It’s made for shifters and vampires so she won’t be able to escape.”

“How long are you going to hold her?”

“Until we figure out a plan.”

I toe material beneath my feet in the elevator. “Why did her heartstone light up? Is she your mate?”

“Fuck no, she’s not. There’s no way. If that’s what fate wants for me, then fate is wrong.”

His words make me feel a little better, but I still don’t like it. There’s something about it that doesn’t sit right with me. There’s something wrong. If Kash is so certain, then fate can’t be that stupid. They’ve built their whole system around this and made laws about it. With fate, is there even a choice? Maybe they have to learn to be together. Relationships are work. Even with fate bringing you your soulmate, you still have to work on it. Right?

The whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. If he doesn’t choose her, choose his fate, then will he choose me? Do I even want him to choose me?

I know deep down, I’ve always wanted him to choose me.

ChapterThirteen

ATHENA

The elevator doors part and we enter the penthouse suite. I realize after a few turns, that it’s basically the whole top floor and it’s incredibly luxurious. We enter what looks like a ballroom area. It’s full of a bunch of people milling around.

“Excellent, Kash and Athena are here, we can begin,” Jerrick says, getting everyone’s attention.

The room goes quiet.

“Let’s start with your news, Kash.”

He nods and steps forward. “The man who has been stalking Athena is a techno fae. He just broke into her room again, which means he hasn’t been hindered by the spells that Penelope put up. Syrena is on her way. She’ll be here within the hour.”
