I barely hesitated a second before taking the one next to her, rather than the one across. My dragon craved being close to this woman, and I wasn’t going to ignore that feeling.
Especially if looking like a lovesick puppy would help keep my cover with my mark so close.
“So, if you’re not going to tell me why you’re influential enough to secure space in the VIP area, what do you want to talk about?” I slid my hand over her knee, trying to keep it mostly chaste, but I was tempted to take it so much further.
In a semi-private area like this one, I wouldn’t be the only one taking advantage of dark corners. At least three women were snorting powders off of tiny mirrors, and one guy was actively getting his cock sucked not far from where we sat.
He seemed familiar, which meant he was probably someone in the spotlight, most likely an actor, judging by the number of scantily clad women all clamoring for their chance at what was probably a lackluster sexual experience.
Izobelle didn’t seem to notice any of it, though, as she leaned close and cupped my face in her palm. “Maybe I don’t want to do any talking. Maybe I was just looking for an excuse to get you somewhere a little more private.”
The wildest, most crazed dragons in the world couldn’t have kept me from claiming Izobelle’s lips with my own.
Fuck, she tasted incredible. Salty and tart from her drink, but underneath all that was a layer of something that had to be all her. Something I could’ve gotten drunk on. Something I wanted to get drunk on.
Izobelle moaned softly against my lips, shifting so that our bodies were closer, almost touching.
My fingers moved higher up her thigh, but she closed her legs around my hand before I could get to where I really wanted to be.
“Not here.” She groaned it into my mouth, and her fingers slid into my hair, keeping me close, keeping our lips pressed together.
When she tugged a little on my hair, I growled, tempted to splay her out across the small table and make her come, regardless of who could see.
“Why don’t we go back downstairs and dance?” It was a terrible idea, one that could leave me ruining my pants, but maybe if we were dancing, I wouldn’t feel so desperate to rip her dress right off her body.
Or I’d be more tempted.
She broke the kiss slowly, her cheeks flushed pink, and her lipstick smeared. If possible, she was hotter than before, freshly kissed with the scent of her arousal perfuming the air.
“I think I’m supposed to tell you that I usually don’t do stuff like this.”
I couldn’t help the smile spreading over my mouth. “You think I care if you’ve made out with a hundred guys?”
She smirked. “You mean a thousand?”
I chuckled. “Even if it was a million, sweetheart. Even if you fucked every single one of them. I don’t give a fuck because you’re here with me now and those suckers aren’t.”
Her cheeks pinkened a bit. “You’re a real smooth talker.”
I leaned forward, so we were closer together. “You have no idea.”
She smelled divine. I wanted so much more than flirting and foreplay. I wanted to take her away and have my way with her in every position.
It occurred to me, sitting there with her, that this wasn't exactly a normal reaction for me. Two of my brothers were matched up with their fated mates, who were human, a big shock to the council and collective dragon shifters alike. I certainly hadn’t been looking for a mate tonight, and without my heartstone, I wouldn’t even know if that’s what she truly was. Maybe my libido was just on overdrive or maybe she was just too fucking delectable to ignore.
I dipped my head in, scenting her along her neck, enjoying the feminine perfume of arousal and a scent that was purely Izobelle.
A scent that I wasn’t the only one to notice.
Fuck.
The man striding up to the table wasn’t discreet about his feeding habits, with dark red blood still staining his lips and dripping down his chin. “Don’t I know you from somewhere?”
I wanted to claw the bloodsucker’s throat out. But the vampire wasn’t looking at me, like he hadn’t even noticed me here.
He’d locked on to Izobelle.
She shifted, leaning back into me like we were more than just strangers who’d met in the bar, and she smiled with that seductive look that had brought me up to the VIP section in the first place. “Don’t think so, darlin’. I’m not from around here.”
