She shivered slightly against me, even as her hands grabbed my ass and pulled me even closer. “I wouldn’t ask you to. You don’t have to worry about me being interested in anyone else, though. I’m pretty sure you’ve ruined me for other men. Especially human ones.” She winked. “There’s still a lot we have to figure out before I let you bite me, and a lot that I need to know, but I like you, Levi Wystan, a lot. And I can only imagine how much more amazing you are than I already know.”

“Once we get everything sorted out, we’re finding somewhere remote, somewhere my brothers don’t know about, and I’m going to spend weeks worshipping between your thighs.” I captured her mouth as I ground my hips against hers.

I swallowed her moans as her arousal started to perfume the air around us, rubbing against her whole body, marking her with as much of my scent as I could.

There would be no doubt to any shifter that she was mine.

I wasn’t worried about proving it to anyone else, but if she needed more ceremony, anything human to seal our commitment, I’d give her everything.

Izobelle broke our kiss with a groan, her hands pressing against my chest to put space between us.

“Fuck, Levi, if you keep kissing me like that, I’m not sure I’m going to remember my own name pretty soon.” She was panting slightly, her pulse racing, a pink flush tinting her skin. All signs of her arousal, all signs that she wanted me as badly as I needed her.

At least if I had to walk down to meet my family with a raging hard-on, she’d be just as uncomfortable.

“We don’t have to go down yet, if you’re too in need, mate.”

She rolled her eyes at me, even though she followed up the motion with licking her lips. “If I’m in need, it’s your fault. No man should rightfully be able to kiss that intensely.”

I grinned as I scooped her up into my arms, tempted to kick the door shut and carry her to the bed. I doubted she’d put up much of a protest, with how wet she undoubtedly was, with how close she pressed against me and how her thighs rubbed together slightly in my arms, like she was craving friction, craving more touch there. “You’re the only woman I’ve ever kissed like that, Izobelle. The only woman I’ve ever fucked. The only woman I’ve ever tasted when she came. You’re the only one I’ve ever wanted, and I won’t stop kissing you with all the passion, all the ache I have for you.”

She moaned slightly as she wrapped her arms up around my neck, hoisting her torso up so that we were face to face. “Then you’re a goddamn natural.” She grinned and kissed me softly, fleetingly, just a brush of her lips against mine before she squirmed her way back to her feet. “And I think we should definitely find out just how good you are, after we get rid of more than a dozen dragons standing on our lawn.”

The way she called it ours, like she was already considering my space her own, made my dragon preen deep inside my chest, and I pulled her back into my arms, needing the closeness, needing her touch, even if it was just a hand being held, or a soft brush of my fingers over her skin. “I’ll hold you to that.”

She shook her head and took my hand, dragging me out of the room before I could argue or convince her to just go back to bed with me.

Ash looked pissed right the fuck off when we got downstairs. “It’s about time you decided to join us. I take it this is the woman you believe is your mate?”

“I more than believe it, Ash, and if you’d stop acting like a king on a precarious throne for three seconds, you’d get to see how amazing she is, how strong and wonderful, and you’d accept her into the family just like I have with Finley.”

Izobelle pressed into my side, but she didn’t smell of fear. Was my mate actuallyshyabout meeting my family? “Maybe I should wait upstairs.”

“Nonsense. Krystana is already practically bouncing all over the yard with excitement to meet you.” Ash scowled, and I could feel Izobelle tensing against me, even though I knew his glare was meant for me.

Could you act like a decent potential brother for a few minutes, and see that you’re scaring my mate? She’s been through plenty the last couple of days, she doesn’t need you terrifying her.

Ash’s face softened some, and he pursed his lips. “Why don’t we all go outside? I think it’s time we all sit down together and figure out what we’re going to do about the vampire problem. Not to mention the council problem.”

Wishing I could communicate as easily with Izobelle as I could with Ash or Dec, without the use of words, was next to pointless. Until she wore my mark, until she accepted my claim, there was no hope that she’d hear my thoughts.

None of that made me wish any less that I could talk to her, that I could beg her to wait inside, wait upstairs, until I’d had a chance to get the lay of the land, to find out just how much shit we were all in.

Or at least how much shit I was in. I was under no delusions that there wasn’t a huge chance that I was about to get my ass kicked by a bunch of dragons.

I wouldn’t blame any of them if they wanted to get their pound of flesh, least of all Ash. I hadn’t consulted my clan’s king apparent, and my actions hurt not just my clan, but all dragons. They were all at risk, because of what I did. Surely, the council was just as angry, and that had to put Ash in a terrible position.

I had to wonder though, if bringing all of these dragons together in one spot wasn’t a really bad idea.

If the point of the vampires forcing my hand, holding my mate against me, was to expose dragons to humankind, what would they do if they found several of us, all together in one place, remote enough that no one would find our bodies for weeks, months, maybe even years?

Izobelle’s hand squeezing my fingers gently pulled me out of my thoughts, out of the fears coursing through me. She looked at my brother as she said, “If we’re going after vampires, I’m staking my claim on Viktor. I get to kill him, and if not me, Levi will.”

Ash’s eyebrow quirked up as he surveyed my mate, taking in the intricate braids in her hair, the way she wore one of my shirts, how she clung to my side. I had no doubt he was sizing her up, questioning her ability to do what she was demanding.

It’s her right, Ash. He killed her family, left her for dead, and I won’t have you taking it from her just because you’d rather not put a female at risk. She’s got more strength than you know.

“I can’t promise anything, but I’ll make it known that if Viktor is part of this scheme, and he’s taken alive, you get the kill.” Ash jerked his head down in a half-nod once, and then strode out of the open front door, leaving Izobelle and me alone.
