Michelle hardly wantedto go back to the dig site, after hours of being cherished and spoiled by her men. She needed sleep, but she was excited to get back to it.
Her men. It still sounded insane to her that she’d come all the way to Egypt and found not only one man, but two. And they weren’t just a vacation fling, but her mates.
“We should get back to the dig. We need your help to find the Obsidian Moon. There’s a wrong that needs righting, and somehow, I think you’re the only one who can help us get there.” Darius cupped her cheek as he led her out to the balcony. “I’ll meet you there.” He kissed her hard before he shifted. Khal will take care of you.
Michelle smiled softly as she watched Darius fly off into the night.
“You really think I’ll become a dragon too?”
“Only time will tell. You’re the first human mate I’ve met.” Khalid grinned and leaned over to kiss her. “But you’re welcome to fly with me any time.”
She stepped back to give him room to shift, watching as he grew, his scales rippling in the moonlight.
He was smaller than Darius, but stockier. They were both gorgeous, and both hers. She couldn’t stop thinking about how they’d used her body all day, how they’d filled her again and again, how incredibly hot it was to have two sexy dragon shifters to call her own.
His tail wrapped around her waist, pulling her in closer as his voice filled her head. You’re going to have to stop projecting your thoughts so loudly, mate, or Darius and I are going to have to drag you into your tent again as soon as we get back to the dig site. And with the way you scream, you’re sure to wake the whole camp.
Michelle could feel the flush creeping into her cheeks as she reached out and ran a hand down his scaled side. I’m not going to apologize for finding you sexy, Khal. Or for wanting more of both of you.
She could feel the rumble of laughter in his body, even as she heard his chuckle in her head.
No wonder the fates blessed you with two. You’re insatiable. He nudged her with his nose, and then released her from his tail so that he could take off. A moment later, he swooped back and scooped her up in his talons, cradling her close to his warm chest.
Flying with Darius or with Khal was so much easier than her flight with Cedric. She wasn’t scared of what they would do, or afraid that they’d drop her. Instead, she just felt cared for. Loved. And seeing the world from this perspective, high above the drifting sands below, or the seacoast, was incredible.
You were made to be a dragon’s mate, Michelle. Your wonder and awe of the world reminds me of my first flights as a youngling.
The fact that her mates could hear her thoughts and share their own still caught her off guard. She never realized when she was thinking out loud. Not that Darius or Khal seemed to mind one bit.
Is it always going to be like this, Khal? The three of us, so connected, always together?
Darius is still prince, unless he defects, or his father banishes him for accepting you as his mate. I imagine there will be time when one or both of us will be busy. But you are our mate, and mates come first, in all things. We will hear you, if you reach out to us.He circled lower toward the camp, gliding in slowly. And when you need us, we’ll be there.
She smiled softly, feeling the truth behind his words, his love and his loyalty to her, above being a dragon, above being part of his clan.
Darius had already shifted back into his human form, and holding up a change of clothes for Khal, when they landed not far from camp. He also had her boots, a simple gesture that made her heart feel so full.
“Are you ready to face the obsidian queen? I don’t know what she’s going to do when I go back in there.” Darius chewed his lip as his face scrunched some in worry. “She took my heartstone. Maybe it would be best for Khal to stay out, to be on guard in case we need a rescue?”
Michelle shook her head. “Your clan is the reason she became trapped here, right? And she said that only one could open the place the Obsidian Moon is being held. I don’t think either of you should go in. If you could’ve freed her, don’t you think she would’ve helped you find the stone, rather than stealing yours?” She looked between her mates as her stomach cramped and almost made her double over. “I think I have to be the one to do this. Alone.”
“Michelle, what’s wrong?” Khal rushed to her side, even as Darius crouched and helped support her shoulders.
“I don’t know.” She shoved them away and ran into more open sand. “Just…give me a minute.”
Her whole body ached, as if something was trying to break free from her skin.
“You’re shifting.” Darius’s eyes grew wide, but not in fear. More like in awe. “You’re becoming a dragon.”
She groaned, wrapping her arms around herself like she needed to hold herself together. “Why now?”
A voice she didn’t recognize filtered into her head, making her gasp. You must be a dragon to set me free, mate of the lapis prince. Your dragon will lead you to me and will help you on your way. You will need her to see.
Judging by the looks on Darius and Khal’s faces, they’d heard her too.
Khalid’s expression burned with fury. “Who the fuck was that?”
