James sighed, ending in a growl. “You and I are going to have some real words when all this is over. Coming here without backup at the very least. How did you escape your dragon?”

“He was sleeping.”

“Fuck. You didn’t tell him where you are either, did you?”

“No.” She looked away. “I definitely didn’t come here for a lecture though, James. Get over it. I’m a grown woman. I don’t need your permission or approval and I certainly don’t need Henrik’s.”

“You’re saying that because you know you did the wrong thing.”

“I don’t know. Did I? I found you. That’s all I’ve been trying to do this entire time. Henrik wants to stop Stefano and Grey, I wanted to find you and rescue you.”

James sighed. “I want to stop Stefano and Grey. Q, if you knew the things I know…”

“You can tell me everything, as soon as you tell me what this stuff does and how the hell I can get us out of here with it.”

James stared at Quinn.

“There’s no talking you out of this, is there?”

“No.”

“All right. The first thing you have to be very careful of is getting even a single drop on you.”

Quinn’s heart raced as she listened to his instructions.

Blood on the Green

Henrik woke with a start. His hand immediately went to his neck. Quinn’s mark pulsed deep inside of him. His dragon was all but punching through his skin to take charge.

Quinn was in danger.

He’d fallen asleep while she was in the shower. He searched the house, but he knew she wasn’t there anymore. He needed to figure out just where that little vixen got off to, because she was in deep trouble.

Henrik dressed, grabbed his phone and keys, and called Syrena on his way out the door.

“Your majesty?” she answered.

“Quinn went missing. I think she went to the club. I think she was tired of waiting around. Can you do a location spell or something?”

“Are the two of you mated?”

“She claimed me. I haven’t claimed her.”

Syrena sighed. “Why do you all do this the hard way?”

“I’ll tell you what, Syrena—when you find your mate, you let me know how easily it goes for you.”

She muttered something unintelligible. “I will try and see if I can locate her. In the meantime, do not go to the club. You won’t be able to stroll in unnoticed.”

“Is it possible we’re linked? Even a little?”

Syrena didn’t respond right away. “You said she claimed you?”

“Yeah.”

“Then it’s not out of the realm of possibility that you’re linked. It doesn’t bode well for your wellbeing if she dies.”
