“You’re really good at that.”
He smirked. “One of these days, I’m going to be able to keep you in this bed for days on end. Right now, you’ve got to get dressed.”
“What about you?”
“Next time, sweetheart. Don’t worry about me.”
She pouted. She’d been looking forward to getting him in her mouth.
“Don’t look at me like that, you vixen. We need to go.”
She relented and got cleaned up and dressed so they could go visit her brother. A trip she really didn’t want to make.

Dragon What Now?
There was something off. Drake lived in a wealthy neighborhood, even a gated community. They would have to announce their presence if they were going to go in the polite way. Henrik pulled over and turned to Quinn.
“I think we should go in a more covert way.”
Her brow furrowed. “Why?”
“I like the element of surprise.”
Quinn crossed her arms over her chest. “We’re not up to shenanigans. We’re here to talk to him.”
Henrik frowned. “I know. There’s just something off about this whole thing.”
“Henrik, how would we go in covertly without the neighbors calling the cops? It’s a gated community.”
Henrik didn’t like that she was blowing him off. “Quinn, I need you to trust me and my instincts.”
She let out a haughty sigh and turned away. He watched her shoulders ease their tension and her body relaxed and her arms fell away.
“I trust you, Henrik,” she said quietly. “I’m scared of what’s going on with my brother.”
He nodded. “I understand. I’m not trying to ambush him, but right now he’s working with the enemy. Whether you like it or not, it may mean he’s a bad guy.”
“That’s what really bothers me. I’m afraid he is a bad guy, and it wouldn’t be so surprising. He’s just like our father. My dad is a fireman. Everyone in the community thought he hung the moon and yet he beat his wife and cheated on her. He was an abusive father. Drake could be just like him, except for maybe instead of beating a wife he doesn’t have, he helps vampires traffic women.”
He reached out and tucked his index finger under her chin and pulled her around until she was looking at him again. “It doesn’t mean he can’t be redeemed. Let’s go in your way, but if something feels off when we get there, I need you to trust me, Quinn.”
“Okay. Once we get there, I’ll listen to you.”
He nodded slowly. “All right.”
Going to the front gate made him nervous, but he kept himself in check. They were allowed in once the guard confirmed with Drake. They drove through the quiet neighborhood.
“I really hate this place. Gives me the creeps,” she muttered.
Henrik agreed. The place was seemingly perfect. Guarded. Well groomed. But he couldn’t help but sense the darkness underlying the development.
They pulled into the driveway. Henrik squeezed her thigh reassuringly before they got out of the car.
Quinn rang the doorbell and they waited.
Drake answered a moment later, like he hadn’t been far away. “Quinn. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
