“Warren didn’t think any of them were Grey.”

Henrik sighed. “All right. We’ll keep watching.”

Syrena didn’t reply right away. “Rik, she’s not all bad. I don’t want her to die.”

“I can’t make promises if she’s helping Stefano and Grey do something…terrible. Which, after Miami, I don’t know what else he would be up to. He still has the ability to use Dragon Fire.”

Henrik’s phone lit up. “Hey, Enzo is calling me.”

“Take it. Check in later.”

Henrik clicked over to the next call.

“This is Henrik.”

Enzo’s voice filled the car. “We’re at the fae market.”

“Why are you there?” Henrik asked.

“We followed one of Stefano’s men.”

Henrik glanced at Quinn. “What is he doing there?”

“He’s buying ingredients. Archaeopteris. Eye of newt. Some of this stuff, I’ve never heard of. We’re hoping Syrena will have a clue.”

“I wonder if he’s making more Dragon Fire or trying to gather what he needs for Dragon Breath,” Henrik replied.

“That’s not all,” Enzo said. “He’s been asking about a rock.”

“What’s Dragon Fire?” Quinn asked.

“It’s a weapon,” Enzo replied. “It can burn a person from the inside out or it can make them a puppet. It possibly has other qualities we’re unaware of. Not something to fuck around with.”

“A puppet? Like mind control?”

Henrik sighed. “I’ve seen it in action, it’s not pretty.”

Quinn didn’t like the sound of that either. “What do we do? Do we grab the guy after he’s done with his grocery list?”

“We can’t nab him right now or Stefano will know something is up,” Enzo said.

Henrik glanced over at Quinn. “He’s probably going to head back to the club when he’s done with his shopping.”

“What about questioning the people at the market?”

“Arthur and I have been doing that as much as we can without drawing attention, but fae tend not to give much away.”

“Then we need to question the vampire. If he goes missing, won’t Stefano just assume it’s the dragon that attacked his place? Maybe it’ll work in our favor,” Quinn said.

Henrik growled.

“Ease up, Rik,” Enzo snapped. “She’s got a point. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to see if we can get any information. Otherwise, it’s going to be a needle in a haystack of spells.”

“Fine.” Henrik hit the end button and grumbled to himself.

“You don’t like not getting your way, do you?”

Henrik glanced over at her and then turned his grumpy face back to the street. “I don’t like doing things that leave a bad taste in my mouth. It’s not a bad idea, but I don’t like showing our cards too quickly.”
