How am I a dragon?

“I’m not sure, but I think our friends have some explaining to do. Do you think you could change back? As much as I would love to see how you do with flying, we’re rather close to the public beach.”

Oh crap. How do I change back?

“Think about being human. Eventually, it will be as easy as thinking.”

The dragon squeezed her eyes shut and then a moment later Finley was standing on two legs, naked before him. She opened her eyes and glanced down at herself.

“I did it.”

He grinned. “You did.”

“Oh shit. I’m naked.”

He laughed again, not bothering to remind her that she’d been naked before she shifted too. “Come on, Sawyer, before anyone sees what’s mine.”

They climbed back into the tent together. Once they were nestled on the pillows, laying on their sides, facing each other.

“Are you sure you feel okay?”

“I actually feel great. And after a succession of orgasms like that, I’m definitely feeling all kinds of relaxed too. Though, I don’t understand how I turned into a dragon.”

“I don’t either. I think we’ll have to do some talking with our friends.”

Ash was elated. Not only did he have a mate, but he had a dragon mate. And she was perfect. He loved everything about her.

Fate had smiled upon him and he would never forget it.

A New Path

Ash opened the front door. Henrik, Gavin, and his old guard from Brazil, Ryker, were standing on the other side. “Come on in, gentlemen.”

“You’re being awfully formal. What’s going on?” Henrik asked as they headed inside.

As they entered the living room from the foyer, Henrik stopped. “Whoa.”

Every king from the existing clans were standing in a circle when they entered.

“What is he doing here?” The garnet king sneered at Gavin.

“I brought everyone here for a reason. There is much that needs to be discussed. We need to face two facts of life. We’ve been in denial about the female dragons. It would seem Grey did something to the dragons long ago and now we have nearly no unmated female dragons left. One of them is my sister. She deserves more than to be paraded around like a piece of meat or property. She will find her mate when she and her mate are ready. We’ve always let our fates be decided. Mates are sacred. We do not need to act as though we deserve them because we are male dragons or even king dragons. Our females should be treasured. Whether they’re dragons or not.”

The king of the Garnet Clan stepped forward. “We are dragons. Why would we want human mates?”

“Do you want to end up like the Obsidian or Larimer clan? Would their kings like to speak up?”

The Garnet king frowned and stepped back.

Gavin wore a small smile.

“What exactly are you suggesting, Asher?” the Amazonite king said.

“That we lift antiquated laws. There’s no place for outdated laws. Mating with humans may be the only way the dragons survive. If Grey has anything to say about it, he wants us all to be exterminated, so why would we make it easier for him?”

“Humans know nothing of dragons. If our courts are to walk around the human world waiting for their heartstones to light up, it will only draw more attention.”
