“And I’m in the way of that. He can’t do anything until he no longer has to worry about me, so... I guess I’m on the right path. I hope for both of your sakes that when I’m gone, he makes Cape Frost a better place to live.”

Hayes doesn’t respond.

He just grabs the washcloth from my hand and begins lathering it up with body soap as his giant arms envelope me, and instead of flinching or shying away, I lean into it. This might be the last time anyone shows me any amount of comfort or respect, and while I asked Hayes not to let me get used to it, I don’t care. I want it, because at least for the moment... I don’t feel like a cursed girl.

“So you’re finally gonna get laid, huh?”

Boo looks a little too proud as he glances at the hallway like he’s worried his sister might hear, but that ship has sailed. He practically yelled it at me when I asked him why he wasn’t having dinner with us.”Looks like it, yeah.”

“Is it just a quickie before work, or are you actually going to spend some time with this one?”

He shrugs, picking a french fry off the plate I set out. “I don’t know yet. She’s cute and seems cool, but I’m a little busy these days. Chicks only dig personal vendettas when Hollywood actors are the ones doing it.”

Snorting, I snatch back the next fry he tries to take. “Hey, this food is for me andSamara, you’re eating something a little different tonight.”

Hopefully I am too.

“Oh, she’s Samara now?” he teases. “Haven’t heard you call her that since she was five.”

“That’s not true.” We both know it is, but I never said I wouldn’t lie period, just not to my Hurricane. “Whatever, things are different now.”

What the fuck did I just say?

“So you're not ready to kick her out yet? I've been trying to find her a place."

The thought of her not staying here makes me irrationally angry, only I can’t tell Boo that. Hell, I can’t even show it. “Nah, she can stay for now. I thought I wouldn’t be able to handle her mouth, but it turns out I can handle it just fine.”

Every single morning and night, preferably.

“Just tune her out like I do.”

I’d rather not. In fact, I’d prefer it if she was screaming in my face... with my cock buried inside of her.

I can’t think like this. The tension building inside of me toward that girl is days away from snapping, which means she’s days away from shooting her shot with that pansy. If Ilose her to some dude who faints after a booboo, I might kill everyone. Starting with him. “Yeah, I do. About her... how do you feel about her wanting to leave this town behind?”

“She won’t,” he mutters. “She keeps saying it, but she has no job and no prospects of getting out.”

“She’s actually been helping me with my business.” Mostly a lie. “It’s not a full-time salary, but she’s saving now. It might be more attainable than you think.”

If he doesn’t know about her plan to leave with Nate, then it isn’t my place to tell him, but I also know it’s a huge possibility she’ll leave with or without him. Withoutme. “Would you be happy for her?”

“Not if she leaves with that fuckwit football player, but it’s not like I have to worry about that. She’s been here every night, right? He’s leaving for college in like three fuckin’ weeks.”

Three weeks. How could I forget?

There’s no way I hold off on fucking her anywhere near that length of time, and the second I do, she’ll go running to him.

“Yeah, she’s been here. Don’t think she even talks to him much right now.”

She doesn’t. I went through her phone.

“Well last I heard, he was telling people he wouldn’t fuck her until she got some experience, so I’m not real worried about it. Just don’t give her enough money to run off. Problem solved.”

Nodding, I turn back toward my food before he can steal more fries. “You gonna tell her you’re heading out?”
