Wild girl,

I did a terrible thing and I betrayed you and I’m so fucking sorry.

But I wasn’t going to leave you. No matter what plans I made, I could never have walked away from you once you were promised to me.

That day sealed your fate, baby.

I fucking miss you,

Nix.

Letter #9

Wild girl,

You told me that you’ve always been mine.

The truth is, I’ve been yours for just as long.

Let me prove it to you.

A la folie,

Nix.

The last letter was delivered yesterday. I opened it on the spot, my fingers greedy for more of him. I read it over and over, anxiously awaiting today’s.

And now, this tenth letter.

Thayer walks in as I flip the envelope over in my hand, her eyes taking in today’s gifts, as well as yesterday’s and the day before’s, strewn all over the counter.

She’s been staying with Rhys and hasn’t been home in a few days so this is her first time seeing the chaos in the kitchen.

She laughs. “Ah, the gifts and flowers part of the apology tour. A personal favorite moment of mine.” She says with a grin, grabbing a chocolate, popping it into her mouth and chewing it happily.

She’d made Rhys grovel endlessly when he’d betrayed her so I have a thing or two to learn from her.

I hold up the envelope for her to see. “I got today’s letter.”

Her eyes widen in excitement. “Well, open it!”

I’ve kept the girls in the loop about his apologies, reading them some of the letters, but not all.

Some of those words I wanted just for me.

Even still, they’d all texted this morning asking if I’d received the letter yet. Thayer had announced she was coming home to read it in person, and she’d arrived right on time.

I unfold the paper and find a row of latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates. Below it, the words:

Meet me here tomorrow morning.

Please.

I love you,

Nix.

“What are you going to do?” Thayer asks me, reading the note after I hand it to her.
