She wrapped her hand around the back of his head and pulled him to her. Pleasure crashed over her and she groaned, pouring the sound of her cataclysm into his mouth as her body writhed on his lap.

Slowly, she pulled back, leaning against his arm, her breathing labored as she smiled at him. He removed his hand from between her legs and straightened her skirts.

“Was it as good as you remembered?”

She’d let him have this one, even if he was being a bit smug. “It was incredible.”

ChapterTwenty-Two

As Fitz followed Daisy in through the backdoor and around to Ash’s office, he was shocked to see his solicitor hesitantly approaching from the other direction.

“Anderson? What brings you to Raven House?”

“Fitz!” Relief fell over his features. “I hadn’t heard anything from you, so I was hoping I might find some kind of update here.”

“I’m sorry. I should have paid you a visit, but there’s been a lot to deal with.” A warm glow flowed through him as he took Daisy’s hand. “Anderson, this is Daisy, my fiancée.” He turned to Daisy. “Anderson is both my solicitor and my closest friend.”

“It is a pleasure to meet you, my lady.” He bowed politely over her hand.

“Even if I wasn’t going to be Mrs. Fitz soon, I’d still want you to call me Daisy.”

Anderson chuckled, and pride blossomed in Fitz’s chest. She was sweet, charming, funny, and so beautiful. And she was going to be his wife.

“Do you have good news to share with me?” Ash asked from the doorway to his office.

“Yes!” Daisy ran to him and wrapped her arms around him.

Ash laughed and shook his head. “What am I going to do with you, Daisy?”

“You’re going to put up with me like you always do.”

Fitz couldn't help but smile. “Would you mind terribly if I left you here for an hour so I can go have a drink with Anderson?” Raven House was the one place he knew she would be safe.

She shook her head. “I’m sure the floors are in need of sweeping.”

“I’m sure they are.” He held his arms open. “I need a hug before I go.”

With an animated smile, she walked into his embrace.

“I’m about to head over to the Den,” Ash said. “When you get done with your drink, security will let you in through the backdoor of the club. Come upstairs and see me for a bit. Daisy will be safe here.”

Fitz nodded. How was this his life?

Once they were seated at their usual table, Anderson held up his glass. “Congratulations Fitz, for so many things. I’m not entirely sure how you managed to end up with everything you ever wanted, but it would seem you have.”

Fitz clinked his glass against Anderson’s and they both took a drink. He let out a long sigh as contentment settled over him.

“You’re not wrong. I don’t know how it happened either, honestly. More than anything, I’m just so glad Daisy is safe.”

“She appeared well, with her smiles and teasing.”

“Somehow, she is. Or at least, she will be. Her father sent her to Auburn Ridge. It was a horrific place, and the things they did to her there should have broken her completely. But she’s incredibly strong. Now, I just need to make sure nothing like that ever happens again.”

“Well, let’s get you married then. I’ll get the paperwork started for a license. I assume you’d rather not wait any longer than you have to?”

“I’d marry her this very minute if I could.”

“Well, Ash no doubt has some pull with the local church, and between the two of us, I’m sure we can make it happen quickly.”
