“Samantha,” he groaned and lifted her hips to meet him as he plunged deep inside her.
She welcomed him as he slid within the confines of her body, gripping him inside her, holding him tightly within her heart. As if he realized the impact of what they were doing, he paused and then he slowly eased almost all the way out before plunging in once again. Desire spiraled through her, rising rapidly, and she opened her eyes and stared deep into his sapphire ones, wanting to touch his soul as much as she could feel herself wanting him.
Why had she felt this attraction to this man, she didn’t understand, but this was what she desperately needed.
Unhurried, he took her mouth, his lips consuming hers. She wanted him to devour her as desire rippled through her like an aftershock. Their tongues mated and danced as his lips moved over hers. Why with this man did she feel so much passion? Why did her body respond like it had come home?
Like this was where she belonged. Here in his arms.
“Cameron,” she cried, breaking the kiss, hungering for him.
With each thrust, Samantha met him halfway, her hips moving of their own accord, her body completely in tune with his. They moved as one, in unison, in perfect harmony.
“Don’t stop.”
“Sam,” he cried. “I’m not going to last long.”
Gazing down at her, he pounded into her again, again, and again, and with each thrust, she stared into his eyes, connecting with him. Unimaginable pleasure roared through her, leaving her breathless and dizzy.
Magic filled her, tightening, centering, and sizzling with an intensity that Cameron created. Never before had she felt so connected to a man, the pleasure riding her hard.
His eyes darkened as his body shuddered his release. Like an arching bolt of lightning, Samantha let go of the orgasm she’d felt gathering. Tremors rippled through her. She clasped his back, holding him tightly, wanting to absorb him into her soul where she could cherish these moments together.
He slumped on top of her then rolled them to their sides. For a moment, the two of them lay there as their breathing returned to normal and their heartbeats slowed. Never had she felt so good after being with a man. Never.
The room was silent except for the sound of their lungs spasming for more air. Outside, snow and ice pelted the windows, but she lay curled in the arms of this big, strong cowboy, warm and safe for now.
“Are you all right?” he asked.
Turning in his arms, she gazed up into those sapphires that mesmerized her.
“Yes,” she said softly as she caressed his face, her fingers trailing down his cheek. “Thank you.”
A grin spread across his face. “Damn, Sam. You surprised the hell out of me.”
She giggled. “When we started talking about the ranch and then you gave me a hug, it was like I knew what I required. And it was you. It’s been years since I’ve been with a man.”
Leaning down, he kissed the tip of her nose. “I’ll be right back.”
Cameron slipped off the mattress and went into the bathroom.
When he opened the door, his face had an odd expression.
“Sam, you should know. The condom broke.”
Her heart plummeted inside her chest. What the hell? A pregnancy was not what she wished for at this moment in her life. Oh no, please not now, not with everything up in the air.
CHAPTER 9
It was early and Cameron had been awake for over an hour, but he didn’t want to disturb Sam. With the stress she was under, this time was hers to rest and rejuvenate while he lay there feeling like the biggest jerk on the planet. He’d tried to tell her. Honestly, he wanted her to know everything before he made love to her, but she didn’t want to listen.
Now he didn’t know what to do.
As soon as they got back to the ranch, he was going to call his cousin Tucker. Hopefully the man had his report and could give him some advice, then he was going to talk to Edward and tell him he needed to tell his family now. That they would go no further until he told everyone, including Sam.
Though he wanted to tell her this morning and right now, so there were no secrets between them. Yet it was Edward’s place to tell his mother and sister how bad things were and that they had to sell.
He knew it would break Sam’s heart. He also knew she was going to be mad as hell at him.
