“This feels so damn good,” Diego admitted. “I don’t want to come.”
Anxious to return to the clinic, Lexie tightened herself around them as hard as she could.
Diego groaned then muttered, “You little minx.” He thrust his full length into her bottom and shuddered violently as he released his seed.
Malik chuckled and arched up into her as he came as well. “Gods, how I needed that.”
She leaned down and kissed Malik briefly, then twisted around so she could kiss Diego. “Did it work? Can you tell if that gave Kane enough energy?”
“Let’s go find out.” Diego suggested as he carefully separated their bodies.
She lifted herself off Malik then rushed into the bathroom to wash up. Diego took a quick shower, then they got dressed and headed back to the clinic.
Raphael was deep in a healing trance when they arrived, so they didn’t disturb him. Malik checked the display next to the treatment table, but returned to the waiting area before he explained, “Kane’s vital signs are stronger, but I won’t know how much we accomplished until I can scan his abdomen.”
“This is torture,” Lexie lamented as she collapsed into one of the chairs.
Tara was no longer in the waiting room. She’d likely returned to the cabin she was sharing with Bianca. Her primary reason for being there had been to support Lexie, so it wasn’t surprising that she’d left.
Another hour passed before Raphael emerged from the treatment room. He was rubbing the back of his neck and yawning widely. “I was able to repair the worst of the damage. He’ll still require a lengthy convalescence, but he will survive.”
An excited cry escaped Lexie as she flew across the room and hugged Raphael. “Thank you,” she gushed and hugged him again.
Raphael laughed and eased her back. “All I did was direct the energy you provided. If it weren’t for the soul bond, there was nothing more I could have done.” He yawned again. “I’m too tired to transform. Can I crash here for the night? I’ll fly home in the morning.”
“Stay as long as you like,” Malik offered. “In fact, I’ll ask Zion to assign you a cabin if you’re willing to help me out on a regular basis.”
“Give me a female and you’ve got yourself a deal,” he countered with a chuckle, then motioned toward Kane’s room. “He needs to rest, but he’s conscious right now. Say good night to him and then go home!”
Lexie rushed into the treatment room and had to fight back a happy cry when she saw Kane’s silver-blue eyes open and filled with life. Carefully sitting on the edge of the bed, she took his hand between hers. “Don’t scare me like that, mate. My heart can’t take it.”
He managed a weak smile. “I’ll try harder next time.”
She lifted his hand to her lips and kissed his knuckles. “Sleep, my love. It’s what your body needs most.”
“I think what my body needs most is what we were doing on the beach.”
Her cheeks heated and she smiled at him. “Soon. You have to regain your strength first.”
“Good point.” His eyelids began to droop, but he shifted his gaze to the foot of the bed where Malik and Diego stood. “Thank you, brothers.”
“No need to thank us,” Diego assured. “All we did was fuck our mate.”
“You did a lot more than that, and I know it. Soul bonds are forever.”
Malik shrugged, yet relief was clearly written in his expression. “Just means that you’re stuck with us.”
Kane smiled, but his eyes drifted shut before he could form a response.
It took Kane three full weeks to regain his strength. He spent the first week in the clinic, and two additional weeks at home in bed. He complained the entire time and drove everyone crazy. Even so, Malik refused to let him out of bed until every internal laceration had healed completely.
“I thought doctors made the worst patients,” Malik growled on the final day. “You undoubtedly take the prize.”
“Am I free to return to work?” Kane demanded. “More important, am I free to fuck our mate?”
Lexie laughed. She was standing in the doorway enjoying the mostly playful banter.
“Your wounds are completely healed,” Malik agreed. “Whether or not you can fuck our mate is up to Lexie.”
