There’s no escape from me.

Chapter 6

Starlet

Today, I felt likea corpse, just going through the motions. After what happened last night, I barely got any rest, my mind replaying the events over and over. Not only did I almost sleep with someone who turned out to be a complete prick, but the lingering shadow that had been following me for days silently observed my near-miss. I was terrified, yet there was an exhilarating thrill in the idea of him watching me undress as if deep down, I desired his gaze.

God, I’m losing my mind.

I wrap the towel tightly around my still-damp body, feeling its warmth against my skin, as I make my wayto my room after a refreshing shower. Upon opening my bedroom door, I am immediately frozen in fear.

He’s in my room.

Sitting at my desk, tapping his ringed fingers on the dark wood.

I feel an icy chill as every drop of blood drains from my body, rendering me motionless. Slowly, he turns his head towards me, his eyes locking onto mine.

No matter how hard I strain my eyes, his face remains hidden. Even though his hoodie obscures his features, I can sense his eyes fixated on the sheer fear displayed on my face.

In an instant, my mind races with the idea of fleeing through the front door, my desperation urging me to scream for help. But before I can even form the thought, his mouth opens, a warning growl escaping in a menacing, low tone.

“Don’t even think about it.”

My heart thuds in my chest, its pounding echoing in my ears, as I instinctively spin around and lunge towards the front door, desperately tugging at the handle.

“No, no, no.”

With mounting panic, I realize it’s locked, sending me into a frantic search for the keys. A startled yelp escapes my lips as I’m abruptly twirled around, forcefully pressed against the unyielding hardwood door. Tears well up in my eyes, and I somehow manage to find my voice, shaky and fearful.

“What do you want?” I manage to whisper, my voice barely audible. Slowly, he lowers the hood concealing his face, revealing himself to me. My gaze is caught between horror and awe as I take in his appearance. His raven hair was tousled yet immaculate. His jawline is sharp, and his nose is flawlessly shaped. But what truly captivates me are his eyes—vibrant jade green orbs that bore into my soul.

“You, princess,” he responds, his gaze roaming over every inch of my body. I’m entranced by the movement of his lips, the fullness and perfection of his mouth as he speaks, and the glimpse of his perfect teeth as he finishes his sentence.

“Are you going to hurt me?” I ask, my voice trembling. My lip quivers and tears cascade down my cheek. He lifts his hand, tenderly wiping away the tears.

“No... I’m going to ruin you.” I remain silent, frozen in place.

My heart feels like it’s clawing its way out of my chest. “You know, princess... you fascinate me.” He brushes his thumb over my bottom lip, causing me to inhale sharply. A smirk dances on his lips as he leans closer, pressing me against the unyielding door, my towel wrapped tightly around my trembling body.

Shit. I’m still naked.

His eyes roam over me, making me feel insignificant under his scorching gaze. He inches his face towards mine, our lips almost touching, a hint of mint tingling my senses, and my heart pounds faster.

“I didn’t appreciate that scumbag laying his hands on you, but I can assure you, it won’t happen again.” He states with a wicked grin.

“W-what do you mean? What did you do?” I breathe, dreading the answer. Trailing his lips along my chin, he stops near my ear, his warm breath caressing my skin as he whispers, “You’ll find out soon enough.” My blood turns to ice.

Did he do something to Caden?

Oh my God, I think I’m going to be sick.

Before I can react, his warm mouth attaches to my neck, sucking on the tender skin, the stinging sensation making me cry out. He chuckles deeply, then gently laps his tongue over the stinging area, trying to soothe it.

My body had a mind of its own as goosebumps covered my skin. A tingling sensation lingered from where his lips had touched me, tracing a path down to my core. Despite the overwhelming physical response, I managed to maintain a rational train of thought.

“P-please, just leave me alone,” I pleaded, tears welling up in my eyes. He pulled away, a smirk playing on his lips as he looked at me with amusement. “I’ll see you around, princess.”

Closing my eyes tightly, I listened to the fading sound of his footsteps, relief washing over me only when I heard my bedroom window being shut. Taking a deep breath, I crumpled to the floor, still clad in just a towel. The tears no longer blurred my vision, but I felt paralyzed, unable to move.
