He leaned over and kissed her. “You can still run, Angel,” Bode shouted. “No one will stop you.”

“I would,” Spencer said. “She’s not getting off the plane in Massachusetts until her last name is Bond.”

“Put a cork in it, Spencer,” her mother said.

Her brother was laughing. He was being a good sport about it now. Maybe he did just have to process it more.

Or could be Spencer was happy that she’d moved in with Coy quickly and they were getting married.

It’d been hard to keep this all a secret, but with no engagement ring on her finger, no one had a clue.

Coy had asked her if there was anything special she wanted in terms of a ring and she said no. She was a simple person. She wasn’t sure what to get him for a band, but he’d made a few comments about Bode’s black band so that was what she bought him.

“Don’t be jealous that I’m stealing Coy from you. We told you you could still have that suite. We won’t give it to anyone else yet,” she said to her brother.

There was a lot of laughter on the plane over that.

Then the pilot came on and told them to buckle up, they were going to take off soon, everyone settled in for the flight.

By hour three, she was struggling to keep the vomit from coming up and had to go to the bathroom.

She had no idea how much time had passed, but she was in there tossing up her lunch and cursing her future husband at the same time.

“Are you okay, Angel?”

It was her mother. Thankfully the bathroom was bigger on the jet than a regular plane.

“I’m sick,” she said.

“Open the door,” her mother said.

She did and Helena was there with her mother. “I’ve got some ginger ale for you. I could see that shade of green across the plane. You lasted longer than I thought you would.”

“I never get sick traveling.”

“It’s the baby,” her mother said. “It happens. Have you felt this any other time?”

“Just in the helicopter, but that was a short trip and it was my first time in one. The wind was crazy too. I don’t even get sick at work or anything now and trust me when I tell you that might be the place it could happen with the things I see in people’s mouths.”

“You’ve at least got your sense of humor,” Helena said. “Drink this slowly. I’m going to go calm Coy down. He was starting to get anxious and I told him to let us take care of this.”

“Great,” she said to her mother. “He’s going to start babying me.”

“Don’t think of it that way,” her mother said. “I know you’ve got a history of it being done to you, but Coy isn’t doing it the same way Spencer and your father did. This is out of love also, but in a different form. I was sick when I was pregnant with Spencer and not you. Your father acted the same way. He said he hated to see me that way knowing there wasn’t anything he could do about it.”

“Nope,” she said. “If I knew this was going to happen, I would have asked my doctor for something.”

“There are pharmacies in the Bahamas. When we land, call the on-call service and see if they will call something in for you.”

“I’ll do that,” she said.

After a few more sips of ginger ale, she felt much better and made her way back to her seat. Everyone was going to know what was happening, but she wouldn’t be embarrassed about it.

“Better?” Coy asked.

She sat next to him and he pulled her close so that she could snuggle under his arm. She felt safe and secure there and nodded her head, closing her eyes.

The next time she opened them, it was Coy saying they’d landed and could get off the plane.
