He grabbed the tray of cookies she brought again that she’d picked up at Hadley’s last night after work and went to the back of the house.

“Everyone, this is Angel. Angel, my brother, Bode, and his wife, Sam, and their daughter, Gemma, in my father’s arms. Drew is over there next to Amanda and here comes Liam to get me back to the cars.”

“It’s so nice to meet everyone,” she said, walking around the room and shaking hands.

“We’ve heard a lot about you,” Drew said.

“Oh,” she said.

“Yeah,” Bode said. “My mother. She likes to talk and dream.”

“Bode,” Sam warned.

“What?” Bode said. “I’m not lying. It’s all the truth. She was like this with Drew and me too.”

Coy turned to look at Angel and saw her eyes get big. “My brother is being a jerk. You know they like to bust my ass.”

“Boys,” his mother said. “Behave. I mean it. Not another word, Bode.”

“Fine,” Bode said. “What’s it like working for my baby brother?”

“He’s easy to work for,” she said. “I hardly ever see him.”

Everyone laughed and Coy wasn’t sure what that was about, but it seemed like he was going to be the center of attention today whether he wanted it or not.

HAVE A LITTLE FUN

“Everyone gone?” he asked when she walked in and put her hands on his shoulders, then leaned down and kissed him on the lips.

Two and a half weeks later, Angel waved to the last staff as she locked the door to the practice. Coy was in their office already working on his notes, but she’d had a late patient she had to finish up with and walked out with Mandy to set the alarm.

“I wouldn’t be doing this if they were still here,” she said.

She moved around and sat on his lap after pushing his chair out some.

“Did you want to come over when we are done?” he asked. “You know, I guess we don’t have to stay here to finish up. I just got into the habit because I like to go home and not worry about work if possible.”

She wondered about that but hadn’t once asked if she could finish her notes up at home. It didn’t matter to her much and she liked the time they got to spend here when no one was around for them to be watchful.

“That is up to you,” she said. “But right now, I think I want to do something else.”

He lifted one eyebrow up at her. “Really?”

“It’s your building. It’s all locked and the security alarm is set. There are no cameras in here that I don’t know about, are there?”

He laughed. “No. They are on the outside of the building and in the front reception area as you enter, which you know.”

“Then we are safe to have a little fun.”

“That’d be great,” he said, his hands sliding under the top of her black scrubs then cupping her breasts. Her nipples instantly hardened. “But this might be the extent since I don’t make a habit of bringing condoms to work with me. No reason for it.”

“Ah,” she said. “But one of us is smarter than the other.” She slid off his lap, went to her purse on her desk, and pulled one out.

He laughed. “Did you decide this today?”

“Nope,” she said. “Weeks ago. I just stuck it in there and figured if the opportunity ever arose I was going to jump on it. Pun intended.”
