I kiss her forehead and then pull myself away from her. I make quick work of finding the offer papers for the house we’re currently in, flip to the signature page, and sign my name with a flourish. I don’t even bother to look at the details. I don’t care.
“House sold. Done,” I say, tossing them onto the coffee table in the living room. “But one sale isn’t enough to make up for what I put my girl through.” I retrieve another set of offer papers for one of the houses. I don’t know which one, and frankly, it doesn’t matter.
I sign those, too, hoping the commission she’ll get from not one but two sales is enough of an apology that we’re good.
“Logan, you don’t have to…” She trails off, shaking her head.
“I do have to. I do. Because I meant it when I said I’ll take care of you. Because I meant it when I said I was sorry. This is me, literally putting my money where my mouth is.”
She stares at the papers and then looks at me, heat and affection sparking in her eyes. Fuck me, but I’ll do anything tokeep her looking at me like that every single day for the rest of my life.
I sink down onto the couch and spread my arms over the back. “Now, what are you going to do with your hostage?”
She takes several slow steps towards me before climbing into my lap, her knees on either side of my hips.
The feeling of Kaylee in my lap is pure bliss. It’s perfection. And more than anything, it feels like this was always where she was meant to be.
“Will you…” She blushes and looks away shyly. I love getting to see all of these sides of her. The professional side, the furiously angry side, the adorably clumsy side, the sweetly shy side.
“Will I what, baby? You already know the answer’s yes.” I slide my hands to her hips, squeezing gently.
Her sparkling blue eyes meet mine, so wide and innocent. “Will you teach me how to kiss?”

Kaylee
As soon as the question’s out of my mouth, I feel Logan tense beneath me.
Oh, no. I’ve ruined it. This gorgeous, sexy, surprisingly sweet man is somehow in love with me, and I’ve shocked and disappointed him with how inexperienced I am.
“What?” he asks quietly, his beautiful brown eyes searching my face. “What do you mean, teach you how to kiss? You’ve never…” His brows knit together as he trails off.
I suck in a breath, feeling like I’m about to jump into a pool without being able to see the bottom. It might be fine, I might die. Jump in and see.
“I’ve never kissed anyone before. Which I know is ridiculous at twenty-one. Believe me, I know.”
“How is that possible?” he asks, still studying me intently.
I shrug. “There were always just other priorities in life.” Like staying fed and warm and alive. Something as frivolous and inessential as boys and dating had always felt like an out of reach luxury.
“So you’ve never…” His eyebrows arch up, and I bite my lip as heat floods my cheeks.
“I’ve never done anything. Not a kiss or…anything more.”
His eyes are wide and bright, and he lifts a hand to stroke my face with so much tenderness I could cry. “You’re completely innocent.”
“As long as we’re not counting dirty fantasies and touching myself, yes. I’m innocent. I’m a virgin.” I swallow, pressing into his touch. “Is that…disappointing for you?”
His brows slash down. “Fuck, no. I love it because it means you’ll only ever be mine. I’ll be the only man on the planet who knows how you taste. How you feel. The sounds you make when you come.”
Relief trickles through me, along with a heady dose of arousal. I’m making a mess in panties just talking about all of this with him, and I realize that no matter how angry as I was with him earlier, I can’t deny my feelings for Logan. I’ve been drawn to him from the moment we met, and I can’t help but feel that he’s right. There’s an element of destiny here. Fate.
And lots of lust.
“Maybe I was just waiting for you all along,” I whisper, and his eyes darken, turning molten as he exhales shakily.
“Because you were always meant to be mine, Kaylee.” He strokes my cheek again, and I whimper softly. His touch feels so good. His fingers are so thick and rough, so strong and capable. “I’ll teach you anything you want to know.” He leans forward, pressing his forehead against mine. “Anything you want is yours.”
