“Thanks. I’ll keep it in mind. He mentioned you run the range at Bluff Creek.”

“Well, I help run the range. There’s a couple of us. But we’ve also arranged for me to head to your place if you need extra help after you get there.”

Lexi nodded. “Thank you.”

Booker carried a couple more boxes into the garage. What all had he ordered from Bluff Creek? She’d wait until other people weren’t around and ask.

A large pickup pulled in beside the RV. Twist, Dodge, and another man got out. Twist walked over.

“Is there coffee in the RV, or should I grab some from the store?” Twist asked.

“There’s even a pot brewed,” Lexi said.

“By the way, that’s Cowboy. He’s got all sorts of fun toys to catch your problem,” Dodge said, with a thumb toward the man she hadn’t met. Dodge followed Twist inside.

Cowboy walked over. “It’s nice to meet you, Lexi. And Dodge is right. I brought all the fun equipment to keep you and your property safe.”

“Thank you. Are you looking for coffee too?”

“Nope. I’m good, but I wouldn’t mind checking out your RV,” he said, smiling.

She motioned for him to go on in and realized that, for once, she and Booker were alone. She walked over to the back of thevehicle, where he was getting ready to pick up a box. She slid her arm around him.

“What all did you order from Bluff Creek?”

He let go of the box and pulled her against him. She inhaled his clean, fresh scent and snuggled up against his chest.

“You feel nice. Like you fit against me perfectly and should stay there for a very long time. I just had them bring a little of this and a little of that. I like to be prepared,” he murmured against her hair.

She was relatively tall, and she loved that Booker was taller than her. When she’d come to town back in middle school, she’d had a growth spurt. She’d despised that some of the boys’ faces were at chest level if she danced with them. Booker’s arms around her protectively had her wishing she could stay here forever. Maybe they could get a fleet of RVs and just not ever go to Logan Falls. She’d miss the holidays at the ranch, but she didn’t look forward to the confrontation with her brother.

“Hey, let’s break up the huggy, kissy face. Dodge and I are going to be in the truck. Cowboy asked if you’d be willing to spend part of the drive helping him get a layout of where security might be needed. He won’t make a final decision until he sees it in person, but he was hoping you’d be up for it,” Twist said.

“I can do that. Mom can help. She might have actual drawings of the ranch. When we decided to have her join me, she brought a couple of lockboxes with papers she wouldn’t want to lose,” Lexi said.

Booker let her go, picking up the last box to store. “Duty calls, but I can’t wait to just hold you in my arms.”

He dropped a kiss on her nose then headed in.

Lexi stood by her mom, marveling at the speed of this group. She and her mom had spent the drive showing Cowboy where everything was located on the ranch. He wanted a little bit of an idea before he got there. He nodded multiple times, letting them know he could figure out how to keep them safe.

They’d driven onto the Saint’s Outlaws’ compound and been greeted by Pit, the President of Saint’s Outlaws MC, and his wife, Ariel. Ariel was just as sweet as her brother Brew had said but also a fierce woman. She’d ordered some of the guys around to where she needed them. She didn’t carry anything because Pit had made sure everyone knew Ariel was expecting. She wasn’t showing yet, but Lexi loved that the big MC President was so gone for his woman.

The MC had a huge insulated building where they worked on vehicles and also had storage space. They’d pulled her RV in there, but Ariel had offered cabins or rooms in the clubhouse for all of them. Brew must have said something to his sister becauseAriel offered the two guestrooms in her house to Compass and Lexi’s mom. Then, when Pit was taking them toward their house, she’d handed a key to one of the cabins to Lexi. It had been so sweet of her to know Lexi wanted alone time with Booker.

The snow had started coming down when they were outside of Ottawa. Luckily, there were only a couple of inches of snow on the ground as they pulled into the MC. The roads had been treated before it snowed, and now the snowplows had been out and had the highways cleared. Even so, since she was the most familiar with her RV, she’d driven the last fifty miles to the MC.

They were all having supper in the clubhouse. A couple of the prospects were tasked with keeping the walkways between the buildings shoveled and clear.

“So, Pit, how is it having Baron as a father-in-law?" Cowboy asked.

There was a lot of laughter from everyone before Pit could answer.

“Well, my Sugar makes everything worth it, but we did have an adjustment period,” Pit said.

Ariel laughed and smacked the table. “By adjustment period, Pit means he had to put up with my dad dropping in unexpectedly every couple of weeks because he was ‘in the area.’ Pit was a good sport about it. Finally, my mom put a stop to it.”

Pit grinned and nodded. “Regina started adding a new animal to their menagerie at the farm every time he came to Kansas City. It took two trips for him to figure out that Flapjack and Croissant were just the start if he continued checking up on us.”
