Pushing at his chest, she laughed. “You’ll go home and get back into your routine and not even remember my name.”

“We both know that’s not true.” Holding her face, he pressed his mouth to hers. When he finally released her, he grinned. “Thank you.”

“For what?”

“For throwing me a lifeline. Every time I think we’re not going to be together, I go a little nuts. I have no idea what my future holds, so once I get some information, I’d like to discuss it with you and figure out a solution.”

“You want my input?”

Smoothing down her hair, he laughed. “Yeah, that’s what couples do.”

“Oh…”

“We should both be scared that I know that and you don’t. You’re definitely the brains of the operation, so I have to admit that I’m a little nervous.”

“If I’m the brains, what does that make you?”

Smirking, he shook his head. “I thought it would be obvious. The brawn, honey.”

It was true. He was the brawn. He had demonstrated his strength of character over and over, and it wasn’t something she would ever underestimate again. Blake Carmichael meant every word he said. No doubt about it.
