“No, thank you,” Paige replied quickly.
“Hey, what about your friend Ivy from college? You said she’s engaged to a SEAL. He could get you some contact information.”
“I thought of that, but I’m going to wait until the baby is born. He’s probably deployed and there’s nothing he can do.”
“This is a problem that can be solved with one telephone call,” Patricia said.
“And I will solve it when the time is right,” Paige said. “Right now, I just want to relax and grow this baby without stressing over Blake and his reaction. I’m sure he doesn’t even remember me.”
“But you said the sex was super-amazing and mind-blowing. Don’t you think he would remember that?” Phoebe asked as she lay in her sister’s lap.
“It was for me because I hadn’t had sex in a long time. It was probably just regular, boring sex for him. I’m sure it didn’t even show up as a blip on his radar.”
“Super-amazing, mind-blowing sex only happens when both people are enjoying it equally,” Penny added. “Maybe you rocked his world.”
“Which was why he left in the middle of the night without saying a word,” Paige responded. “The man saved my life and I can’t be more grateful. He also gave me one night of amazing pleasure as a bonus. The fact that we made a baby is the cherry on the sundae. It’s not how I would’ve planned it, but God did. So, I’m accepting this blessing and moving forward.”
Peyton pointed her spoon at the necklace Paige wore. “He also gave you a necklace with a heart on it and said you would always have a part of him no matter where you were. Seems he was right.”
Rubbing her stomach, she felt a twinge. “Words don’t mean a thing if actions don’t support them.”
“So, what kind of job are you going to look for after the baby’s born?” Penny asked.
“I may take the first year off. I’ve saved a ton of money over the last five years. I had a good salary, and I also received a hazardous duty bonus for three of my postings.”
“How long have you known you were pregnant?” Patricia asked.
“Officially, a couple of days. But I’ve suspected it for a month. I guess I was just mentally getting myself ready. I’m still shocked, but I’m starting to wrap my head around it. You all know I love to plan, so once I have one, I’ll feel a lot better. Grammy said she wanted to move in and take care of me, which is sweet. Impossible, but sweet.”
“I’ll come stay with you,” Phoebe added. “I can babysit when I’m not in class.”
Leaning down, she kissed her sister’s cheek. “Thank you.” Looking around the table, she gave each one of her sisters a smile. “I’m going to count on all of you to guide me through this.”
Peyton stood and then grabbed her wallet. “I’ll start by getting us some pie. Once we have that, we can start to plan.”
Paige looked at her sister Penny and wondered what she was thinking. “Just ask already.”
“Is Blake good-looking?”
“Devastatingly so. He’s around six-three or six-four with a body that would make Adonis jealous. He had a full beard, but I could tell he had a good jaw, and his nose was probably broken a couple of times. His eyes are a delicious chocolate brown and his smile should be illegal. Other than that, he’s okay.”
“Are you sure you don’t want to give him a call? If nothing else, you can have some great sex for the next couple of months,” Penny said.
“Yeah, that’s a good idea. That conversation should go real well. I’m sure a man like him would love to come to Texas and have relations with a pregnant woman. I mean…that’s a damn good offer.”
Before Peyton left to get pie, she laughed. “He’s the one that knocked you up. The least he can do is make sure you have some orgasms.”
The table erupted in laughter and Paige wiped her eyes. What her sister said had some merit, but it wasn’t going to happen. At the rate she was going, she was going to keep her perfect record of sex every two years. Looking down at her stomach, she realized that might be optimistic. Oh, well, they were bigger fish to fry, and worrying about her sex life didn’t even merit a second thought. The baby she was growing was all that mattered.
