“You are so very welcome. I hope you enjoy your stay.”
I take my key and head back outside completely in a daze. Okay, so that was a lot easier than I feared. Whoever that guy is, he knows exactly how to put a customer at ease. Maybe he really is some sort of elf.
I drive down the lane until I find my cabin. There’s a little porch in the front with a swinging seat with the most adorable twinkling lights hanging from the roof. The windows have snowflake clings on them, making the entire place look ready for a picture perfect, snowed in experience. That’s really adorableand I wish it wasn’t so cold outside. I’d have loved to read my smutty book while swinging on the outside seat.
Maybe I’ll have to come back to this place during the summer months. Maybe I’ll even bring Ellie with me next time.
After parking, I grab my bags and head inside. A grunt to my left catches my attention and I look over at the cabin beside my own to find someone hunched over the hood of their car.
My entire body heats and I can’t seem to pull my eyes away as the guy works on his car, his ass on perfect display. I bite my bottom lip to keep myself from doing something foolish like moaning or cat-calling him.
As he straightens, I quickly finish my trek into the cabin, not wanting him to catch me staring. I’ve only just gotten here, I’d rather not make a complete fool of myself already! I close the door behind me and look around, ignoring the way my heart is racing within the confines of my chest. Just the sight of a cute butt really has me breathless? Maybe my pack is just a little too sheltered if I’ve made it to 35 and still get anxious around attractive men!
The inside of the cabin is just as adorable as the outside. The main room has a tiny kitchen, a mini fridge, and a little table to eat at. The living space has an electric fireplace, a fluffy looking rug, and a little loveseat. A mini Christmas tree sits in the corner and the arches of each room have little homemade snowflakes dangling from them. There’s a huge bay window in the front with the comfiest looking arm chair where I plan on plunking down to read my books. And if it just so happens to give me the perfect view of my attractive neighbor? No one can blame me for simply looking out the window!
I bring my bags into the bedroom, tossing all of my things onto the bed. There’s an attached bathroom that has, not only a shower, but also the biggest bathtub I’ve ever seen. I’m prettysure I’ll be able to completely cover myself in that thing for the first time since I was a pup!
The longer I’m here, the more I realize that Ellie was right. Not that I’ll ever actually admit that to her. I’ve been working myself to the bone without even realizing it. I love my job. I love being the person my pack calls when they need something. I’m so thankful that Aiden essentially paid for me to go to school so I can do what I do.
But making that my entire life and personality isn’t necessarily good for me. I’m more than just my medical expertise. I’ve lost my sense of individuality. I’m a man who has needs, damnit!
I cover my face with my hands. I didn’t even say that out loud but just thinking it makes me cringe and blush.
I quickly slip into some comfy pants and a hoodie before going back into the main area, unpacking the bag of food that Ellie packed for me. I can’t help but chuckle at the sight of so much junk food. All of my favorite comfort foods like popcorn, cheezy puffys, and orange soda. She’s really spoiling me.
Once that’s all settled, I grab one of the books Ellie sent along with me and make myself comfortable in the armchair by the window. It’s late afternoon and the sun is shining through the window, keeping me warm despite the fact that it’s chilly outside.
My eye candy is still outside working on his car. Despite the brisk weather, he’s taken his shirt off, letting it hang from his back pocket.
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
If I thought this guy was hot before, now that he’s shirtless, he’s downright divine! His stomach and back are toned, like he does labor regularly. He’s got a pretty, black rose tattooed on the right side of his throat. His back has the most gorgeous black wings inked into his skin.
When he straightens, he raises his arms over his head, wiggling his hips as he stretches. My mouth runs dry and my cock goes from zero to sixty in about ten seconds flat. He runs his fingers through his black hair. When he turns his head, I can make out black eyeliner and piercings in his bottom lip. He’s so fucking hot and I can’t seem to pull my eyes away.
Sure, I could be reading smut but I’m finding myself less interested in fantasy and more interested in the real person outside.
Would it be weird if I went outside and introduced myself?
I deflate at the thought. I’m not confident like that. Give me a medical emergency and I’ll keep a clear head. Put me in front of someone I find hot and I turn into a downright disaster.
I spend the rest of the night reading my book while occasionally checking out my neighbor. Eventually, he finishes working on his car and heads into his cabin. That’s when I realize just how dark it’s gotten outside. His departure is my signal that maybe it’s time for me to move to my bed as well.
It’s always strange falling asleep in a new place. The wind outside somehow sounds different than how it sounds at my own house. Despite all that, I find sleep fairly quickly.
One moment, I’m sleeping in my bed and the next, I’m running through the forest. Somehow, I know I’m dreaming but my heart races with excitement anyway. It feels so real, more real than any other dream I’ve ever had.
The smell of the forest washes over me, putting me at ease. As much as I belong with my pack, living in my human skin, I also belong to the forest. This is my second home and it’s been too long since I’ve indulged in this.
My paws dig into the cold ground beneath me, the crunch of the fallen leaves its own special symphony as I run. I run until I find a clearing. I’m panting as I try to catch my breath, my lungs burning in a way that makes me feel alive. I tip my head up.Spotting the full moon, I open my mouth and howl, letting the sound ring through the otherwise empty forest.
Except, it’s not as empty as I thought.
An answering howl flows through the trees. I stand back up, looking every which way, trying to find the source. A pair of glowing eyes looks at me from the treeline. For a moment, fear grips me. Is this an alpha tracking me down?
I sniff the air and the other wolf is indeed an alpha, but his scent is sweet to my nose. This alpha isn’t a threat, I somehow know that at the very core of my being. I yelp at him and if wolves could smile, I get the feeling he would be grinning.
I let my front fall against the ground, my butt wiggling in the air; the universal sign for play. The alpha across from me steps into the clearing, letting me see him fully for the first time. He does the same gesture.
