I smile as I explain. “I haven’t found anything I wasn’t able to fix if given a little time. I need to change the oil and spark plugs on my car. The last place I stayed at had me fixing their AC units but any maintenance you might have, I can take care of.”
“That’s good to know,” Theo says, running his fingers through his long beard. “We’ll make a list for you tonight and you can get started in the morning after breakfast. Does that sound alright?”
“That sounds perfect. Thank you so much, Sir.”
Elias giggles. “You’ve got pretty boys calling you Sir, Theo.”
Theo’s cheeks brighten even further. “Hush, both of you. Call me Theo, no need for this Sir shit.”
“You got it,” I say with a chuckle. They’ve instantly put me at ease and a little wave ofsomethingruns through me. I realize with a start that I’mjealous.
Gods, it’s been too long since I’ve been around people for any extended period of time. Am I lonely? Do I wish I had a place to call my own or do I simply wish I had someone to share my bed with?
I’d rather not analyze all ofthatso instead, I take the key to cabin 5 with the promise of seeing them both in the morning.
I pull my car into my designated driveway. My cabin has a large, decorated 5 on the front door. Everything about this place gives off good vibes. I find myself grinning as I grab my bag and haul it into the cabin.
The first thing I do is strip out of my clothes and get into the shower. The hot water is nothing short of blissful. I usually shower at truck stops or exercise clubs so a shower in my own personal room is downright indulgent. Gods, this feels so nice. I even have the privacy to jerk off if I really wanted to, but the idea of laying myself out in a bed in order to touch myself sounds so much better.
It’s something I’ll have to indulge in before my stay is over.
I stay in the shower until my fingers and toes get pruney. Turning off the shower, I get out and dry myself off. My eyeliner is streaked down my cheeks but using a washcloth, I quickly take care of that.
Walking through my cabin completely naked, a little thrill goes through me. I’ve missed this. I’ve missed having a space to call my own where I can do whatever the fuck I feel like doing. Sure, I have my car, but I can’t drive around without pants on. I can’t kick off my shoes and wiggle my toes.
I love being on the road, but now that I’m in a comfortable place, I realize how tired I am. Maybe a week in a comfortable bed, a hot shower, and free coffee will fix these feelings right up.
I have the entire day to myself so I quickly get dressed before heading out to my car. The oil and spark plugs aren’t going to fix themselves and it’s better to get them done before the snow decides to hit.
Chapter three
Avery
“I’m pulling in right now,” I tell Ellie over the phone, my stomach leaping up into my throat. This is the first time I’ve been away from the pack and Ellie booked me for an entire week! Gods, what if they need me?
“I can hear your panic from here,” she says softly. I let go of the breath I hadn’t even realized I was holding. “Okay, good. Now relax, Avery. You’re not even that far away! Enjoy your time away. I packed you a few smutty books and I expect full reviews by the time you come back home.”
“I love you,” I tell Ellie seriously. “Thank you for this gift and the books and for being my friend.”
“I love you, too. Now go. Check in and get into your room. Send me some pictures too! I wanna see if it’s as cute as the pictures online looked!”
“Will do. I’ll talk to you soon.”
I park my car at the main building. I take a moment to get my heart to stop beating so wildly inside my chest. I don’t know whymeeting people is so hard. Once I’m in there talking it’ll be fine but getting myselfin thereis the hardest part.
After a few more deep breaths, I head out of my car and into the main building. There’s a front desk that I stop at, putting on a little smile.
“Hello, welcome!”
“Thank you,” I say, stepping up to the counter where a man who reminds me of a cheerful elf greets me with a cheeky grin. “I’m here to check in, please.”
“Absolutely. Do you have your reservation confirmation?”
“I do.” I take out the sheet of paper that Ellie gave me, sliding it over for him. He checks it over and types a few things into his computer before handing over a key.
“Here you are. You’ll be staying in cabin number 6 so you’ll hopefully have some excellent eye candy,” he says with a wink. “You can thank me later. There’s free breakfast every morning. In this main hall you’ll find an assortment of amenities to choose from. We also have some stargazing domes you can rent out if that’s something you’re interested in.” He slides a pamphlet over. “Everything we offer is in there and if you have any questions myself or my husband will be available to answer them.”
“Oh,” I say, taking it all in. “Thank you so much.”
