Parker gives me one more kiss before turning back to the stove, leaving me with blushing cheeks. I cover my face with my hands, overwhelmed with that giddy feeling going on inside my stomach. It threatens to put me on my ass with how weak it makes my knees. I could get used to this.
“Ready for your knots?”
I look over at Parker, wiggling my brows at him suggestively, making both of us giggle. “I’m so ready to have these knots in my mouth.”
“You’re the worst,” he murmurs, readjusting himself.
“I’m thebest. Now hurry up with my knots. I want them in my belly likeyesterday.”
Parker carefully pulls the knots out of the oven before using a brush I didn’t even know we had to cover them with the buttery garlic goodness. I grab a plate from the cupboard, handing it over so he can plate these knots up for me.
Instead of handing the plate back, Parker picks it up, placing his hand on my lower back and leading me over to the living room. We get ourselves comfortable on the couch and I smile as Parker lays the plate on my lap.
“It’s all yours.”
Without any hesitation I shove a knot in my mouth, moaning as the flavors burst on my tongue. I chew carefully, the dough just barely cool enough that I’m not burning the inside of my mouth. “Oh. My. God.”
“Good?”
“Literally crafted by divine hands.”
“The highest compliment from the cutest omega.”
I roll my eyes, ignoring the way my mouth is so full my cheeks are puffed out like a chipmunk. I probably look like I haven’t eaten all day with how quickly I’m shoving these into my mouth. I’m just barely keeping my mouth closed as I chew but he still thinks I’m cute. I don’t get it but I’ll take it.
“It’s strange,” he murmurs, his eyes looking down at my belly.
“What’s strange?”
“My instincts are very interested in that bump even though I know they’re not mine,” he confesses softly, his hand clenching like he’s holding himself back from touching my belly. “I know a lot of true mates try to mate as soon as possible but I think we should wait.”
“Until after the baby is born?” I ask between bites.
“Yeah. I think my inner alpha would get way too attached to that baby even though it’s very much not ours. Is that weird?”
I shake my head, chewing slowly as I think about what Parker is saying. “I think it’s smart that you’re listening to your instincts. I don’t mind waiting.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I would very much like to mate you,” he tells me, leaning over and kissing my messy hair.
“That’s good to know because I’d very much like to mate with you too.”
“Cool,” he says simply, the cutest little smile on his lips as he looks away. I’ve known Parker for less than a day and already my heart beats for him. How is it possible to fall this hard this fast? He’s gentle with me, doesn’t mind my need for touch, accepts my aceness without a second thought, and hecooks. Even if I didn’t want to love him I don’t think I’d stand a chance at not falling.
I lay my head against his chest, breathing him in as I eat my garlic knots. His hand runs up and down my side, making me shiver in delight.
“When are you due?”
“Next week I’ll be hitting the halfway mark. I have about 20 more weeks or so more to go.”
“Awesome,” he says, squeezing me tight.
“You’re not counting down the days until we can mate, are you? Because that’s incredibly endearing.”
“Am not. Am big strong alpha with no feelings,” Parker murmurs, making his voice deeper than usual, making me giggle.
“Don’t worry, alpha, your secret is safe with me.”
As we snuggle on the couch and I slowly finish these divine garlic knots, we flip on the TV. There’s a mindless sitcom playing in the background as we chat back and forth, sharing random small talk.
