“And you couldn’t wait for him to make it through the door?” Sara titters.
“I really couldn’t.” She shrugged and took a sip from her drink.
We spent the next few hours goofing off and playing a few drinking games. Since Madison and Bianca were pregnant, they had to pick someone to take those shots for them. Bianca was sending most of her shots her mom's way. After a while, she tapped out and stopped playing.
As we sit around laughing and taking shots, the front door opens. Viper walks in and zones in on Cara. He bites his lip, staring at her lustfully.
“What are you doing here, Viper? Aren’t you supposed to be at my house helping the guys with the kids?” Crystal asks.
“I am. I just had to get this thing from the bedroom. Cara, can you come help me find it?” He smirks at her as she shakes her head.
“Babe, really?”
He nods eagerly. “Yup. Ireallyneed your help.”
His voice drops a few octaves. Even I get goosebumps. I don’t blame Cara, not one bit, when she hops up and hurries out of the room after him. I do, however think it’s time for us to get the hell out of here. Those two can get loud. I begin to gather my things in a hurry.
“Why are you leaving?”
Will places his hand on top of mine, stopping me.
“Are we really going to pretend we don’t know what they’re about to do? I’ve heard them once, and those two can get loud.”
All the ladies burst into laughter. I look around the group, confused. “You have nothing to fear as long as they’re inside that room.” Sara giggles before taking a shot with Sofia.
“Why is that?”
“Their bedroom is soundproof. The night you heard them, the kids were gone, so they like to get down wherever they want.”
“Oh.” My mouth forms an “O” as I sit back on the couch.
By the time Cara returns, that neat bun she had her hair in is all over the place.
“You missed a button,” Sofia tells her.
Cara looks back at her butt, and sure enough, one of the flaps to her onesie isn’t buttoned. Everyone howls in laughter as she fixes the flap with no shame.
“That’s right, baby girl. Keep it up so I can get another grandbaby.” Crystal smiles at her, but the feeling is not mutual. Cara's eyes widen with fear.
Before anyone can say anything, this girl hops over the couch and runs to the kitchen. When she comes back, she has a bottle of disinfectant spray. She sprays the area in a panic.
“You got a lot of nerve. You got two grandbabies on the way right now!” she fusses.
“It's not enough,” Crystal whines.
“Make it enough! Don’t put my name and baby in the same sentence. You know this family is cursed.” Cara slams the can down on the table before taking a seat.
Will and the ladies are laughing so hard they clutch their stomachs. Sofia notices my lack of amusement from my confusion and clears everything up for me.
“Cara believes our family is cursed because twins, triplets, and multiples run in our family.”
“How bad could it be?”
“Our generation has a set of quadruplets, four sets of triplets, and six sets of twins. Cameron and I had triplets fresh out of the gate. I was pregnant seven months after giving birth to my triplets,” Cara rants.
Stunned in disbelief, I grab the spray off the table and hit the air with a few more sprays. “I think you might need a little more of this.”
Hours pass and before I know it, it’s two in the morning. Victoria and Crystal left a while ago. There was no doubt that this slumber party was going to end early tonight. All the ol’ ladies had already expressed wanting to go home to be under their men, and I couldn't agree more.
