Thomas was the perfect candidate.

After the judge sentenced Wyatt to life, his parents turned their backs on him. They couldn’t have their murderer of a son tainting their image.

They kept Frances away but when she turned eighteen, she started visiting the prison. Her parents cut her off as well when they found out. Mom and Dad paid for her to go to college and set her up in an apartment. She basically lives like a monk. She works from home and only goes out to visit Wyatt. That night changed her life.

I make it to the airport, park my truck, and hop out. I check the time and see Wyatt’s plane should be landing right now. I take off in a light jog and make it to the terminal just as passengers start to exit. I stand there bouncing in place, waiting until I see him.

When he finally emerges, he searches the crowd until he sees me. He smiles and I can’t help but return it. I run to him, and he catches me in a hug.

“How the hell did you do this?” He laughs.

“That’s my secret.” I wink.

Looking Wyatt over, he’s completely changed from the boy I remember. He’s well over six feet tall, full beard, his black hair cut low, and he’s packed on the muscles. His arms are huge. Iknow they say there’s not much to do but pump iron in prison, but geez. Not to mention he’s covered in tattoos.

“Whatever you did, thank you. I really thought I would die in that place.”

“We weren’t going to let that happen, Wyatt. Honestly, Sara, Cam, Chris, and I talked about breaking you out a few times.” I giggle.

He shakes his head and laughs. “Well, come on. Let’s get out of here.”

I lead him to my truck, and he turns to me with a smirk. “Damn. Blade told me you had a badass truck, but this is…” He shakes his head with a whistle.

Smiling, I hop in the truck and Wyatt follows suit. Not even ten minutes on the road back to the clubhouse and Viper calls me for tenth time. Smiling, I answer the phone.

“Hey, babe!” I add some extra sweetness to my voice hoping to sooth him.

“Hellcat, care to explain why you told me you were going to Walmart and then went off the grid. And now there’s someone here that you failed to mention to anyone they were coming.”

“I wish I had time to explain all that, but my phone is just about to die. I’m on my way back to the clubhouse now. I’ll see you in a few.”

“Cara, don’t you dare hang up —”

I press the end button on my screen in my truck before he can say more.

I am so going to pay for this stunt.

My ass twitches thinking about the last time he spanked me for going rouge. While the majority of the time it turns me on that wasnotone of them. Not to mention, he edged me for over an hour. I’ve never felt murderous and horny all at the same time. Needless to say, I’ve been on good behavior since.

That is until now. I’m not telling him I blackmailed a mayor. A girl has to have her secrets. Honestly, he might just edge me for an entire week if he finds out I hid all this from him.

So, yeah, there’s no way in hell I’m telling him that Thomas had anything to do with this.

Wyatt chuckles and I turn to him. “Your Ol’ Man?”

“Yup. You know I have to keep him on his toes from time to time.”

For the rest of the drive, we catch up on small talk. He tells me about his time in prison and I tell him about my kids. When I hop out of the truck, Kev is standing by the entrance of the clubhouse shaking his head at me.

“Have you lost your mind?” he asks, flailing his arms.

“No, why?”

“You disappear for hours with no word and return with a man?”

“Oh my God. It’s nothing like that. Move out the way so I can face the jury.”

“Your funeral,” he says and shrugs. He moves out of the way, and I walk through the door. As soon as I enter the common room, everyone goes silent. My mom and dad are hugging Frances. When they notice how quiet it is, they look up.
