“What’s a Sex on the Beach?” I ask.
“Exactly what it sounds like. When you’re done drinking them, you’ll want to do exactly that.”
I snort before saying, “As if I could get Jonah to sleep with me.”
My eyes bulge at my slip. I did not mean to say that out loud. The girls stare at me curiously. I don’t see an ounce of judgment, so I start to relax. I’ve been holding on to these frustrations for so long that it just came out. I felt like I was about to combust when Jonah left earlier. I didn’t know what to do with myself.
“You’re going to have to explain what you mean, Madison,” Cara says to me, and the rest of the table leans in to wait for my answer.
“It’s just every time things get hot and heavy, he pumps the breaks. He won’t go past a bit of making out and it so damn frustrating.”
The girls smile in understanding before Sara speaks up. “He’s probably not sure what you’re ready for. Sometimes you have to be the aggressor and tell them exactly what you want.”
“I can’t do that. What if he denies me? I would be mortified.”
Will snorts before shaking his head. “Believe me, that is the last thing he is going to do. The other night when he left Cara’s house, I was standing on my porch and saw him walking to the clubhouse.”
We all look at Will in confusion. “So?” Sofia prompts.
“That man was hard as a rock. I’m a man and I know the walk you have when you have a chubby in your jeans.”
We all burst into giggles and Will looks as if he could feel Jonah’s pain. The waitress walks over and puts the shots down on the table. “Do y’all want something to eat too?”
“Nope, the drinks will do,” Bianca tells her. We had takeout from the diner before leaving. She nods before walking away and Bianca grabs her shot as we all do the same. Everyone raises their glasses as Cara starts a toast.
“To Madison. Our newest sister in this circle.”
Everyone clinks glasses and throws back their shots. I watch as Bianca and Cara throw theirs back without a problem. Will, Sofia, and Sara wince but still get them down. Everyone turns to me, and I throw mine back with a quick swallow.
Big mistake.
The pain is immediate.
My throat is on fire as I cough uncontrollably. Sofia giggles and begins to pat my back.
“The first one’s always rough,” Bianca informs me.
“I highly doubt that. I’m pretty sure I just swallowed gasoline.”
The girls break into a fit of giggles just as the waitress drops off the next round of drinks. I grab it and take a hesitant sip. When the fruity concoction hits my tongue, I begin to drink faster to cool my burning throat.
“Slow down, Madison. You’re going to be stumbling if you don’t pace yourself.”
I turn to Will and frown in annoyance. My throat is on fire, and this helps. I don't want any logical advice. I just want throat to not be on fire.
After the pain begins to go away, I take a few more sips before setting the drink down. “Come on, ladies, let’s dance!” Will shouts before standing.
We hit the dance floor and dance for what feels like hours. Will takes turns dancing with each of us. He is a ball of energy. I’ve never seen a man move his hips like Will.
While we’re on the dance floor, someone comes up behind me and pulls my body against theirs. I tried to break his hold, but it tightens.
“Don’t be like that, baby. You’re the only one who doesn’t belong to one of those damn Warriors. Let me show you how many times I can make you come.”
Eww. Does that crap actually work on women? I’m fighting against his hold but I’m getting nowhere. Cara and Sara look up to see me struggling and they both charge forward and pull me out of the guy’s hold.
“Back up, asshat. She’s not interested or available,” Cara sneers.
“You don’t have to get bitchy with me. Her cut doesn’t say she’s an Ol’ Lady so she’s fair game.”
