I sit there stunned because Cameron knows about the girls. I don’t know what kind of game he’s playing, but he’s not going to put this off on me. Before I can tell her off, she continues.

“Your neighbor, Miss Josie, brought the girls here because she’s been calling you for over an hour. Her son was in a car wreck, and she needed to get to the hospital. When she couldn’t reach you, she decided to bring the girls to you. I took one look at them and knew they were my nieces. So, I’m going to ask again, why didn’t you tell my brother?”

Explaining myself is the last thing on my mind. She said Josie brought the girls here. Where the hell are my babies? I swear if they did anything to my kids, I’ll burn this place down.

“Where the hell are my kids?” I growl, standing up.

The man beside me makes a move to go to Cara, but she raises her hand and shakes her head. “I’m fine, Viper. I promise.” He relaxes and settles back against the wall.

“Bianca, they’re next door in Sara’s office, coloring. No one here will harm any of you. I just need to know why you didn’t say anything. My eyes are a dead giveaway. Why haven’t you said a word about them in the three weeks you’ve been here?”

I calm down and take my seat. Thinking over everything she said, she acts as if Cameron is oblivious to the girls and he’s not. “I didn’t say anything because your brother wants nothing to do with them. I didn’t think anyone would recognize his one-night stand from four years ago.”

Cara sits back, looking stunned, her mouth hanging open. “He said that to you?” she asks bewildered.

I scoff and shake my head. “No, his wife told me.”

Now Cara and Viper are confused. I look between the both of them, waiting for one of them to speak up.

“Okay, first tell me which one of my brothers got you pregnant.”

“Cameron is the girls’ father.” Again, both of their eyes go wide, and they share a look.

“How do you know his given name?” Viper asks.

I roll my eyes because what the hell does that have to do with anything. “He told me the night we met. Look, this is a waste of time going over all this again. Your brother wants nothing to do with them.”

I’m about to stand up, but Cara’s next words stop me in my tracks. “Cameron has never been married, Bianca.”

I sit back and process her words. That can’t be right. I look between Cara and Viper. It doesn’t look like they're lying to me, but what exactly does all this mean?

“I don’t know who this woman you’re speaking of is but let me be brutally honest here. My brother hasn’t had a girlfriend since high school. He hooks up with women, but he has no one serious in his life. Can you tell me about this woman who claimed to be my brother’s wife and why you think he doesn’t want to be a part of his daughters’ lives?”

“We met at a club four years ago. I had just graduated from college and wanted to celebrate. I went out with a few friends. I was looking to hook up with someone to celebrate all my hard work paying off. I got a hotel room and went to the club. I took Cameron back to the room and you know…” I trail off, cringing about how this must sound.

Cara lets out a laugh, shaking her head. “You have nothing to be ashamed about, Bianca. We’ve all had wild nights. I just want the story so we can get to the bottom of this. Someone lied to you and cost my brother three years with his daughters. I want to know who.”

Cara has never looked this scary to me before. She normally seems happy and when she comes around, she’s usually joking around. I take a deep breath so I can continue, but, if I’m being honest, I don’t know how much of this I’m buying. If what Cara is saying is true, then that means I’m to blame as well. If I had just gone to Cameron directly, my girls would have had their father from the beginning.

“We used protection, but somehow, I still got pregnant. Cameron ended up leaving in the middle of the night, saying he had to get back to his club. He left his number and told me to call him. I didn’t call him until I found out I was pregnant. I was so busy with work. Dating wasn’t an option.”

I take a deep breath as the tears pool in my eyes. The next part is the hardest part to admit. It broke me in every way when his wife answered that phone.

“When I called his phone, a woman named Jennifer answered the phone. She told me she was his wife and asked what I wanted with her husband. I was honest and told her I was pregnant. Jennifer said that they didn’t want anything to do with my bastard baby and if I was smart, I would ‘take care’ of the situation.”

I drop my head as the tears flow. Never did I think I would be someone’s mistress and end up pregnant. When Jennifer told me to get an abortion, I didn’t even think twice about it. There was no way I was aborting my baby. Of course, later I found out I was having triplets, but I still didn’t consider an abortion. Viper hands me a tissue and I continue with my story.

“Jennifer said that if I came anywhere near her husband, the MC would kill me and that bastard baby of mine. She hung up, and I never called him again until eight months ago. I called because I was desperate. I was demoted at my last job because I wouldn’t go on a date with my boss, and my bills were piling high. I needed help. When I called his phone, Jennifer picked up again and threatened to end my life. I hung up and blocked his number. I had no idea that this was his family’s restaurant when I applied but I was desperate. I needed the money. I figured no one would know who I was, so there wasn’t any reason for me to quit.”

When I look up, Viper and Cara’s faces are furious, and I shrink back. Cara drops her head. “Bianca, I am so sorry you’ve been doing this alone. I can guarantee you two things. One, my brother has never been married. Two, he has no idea your daughters exist. If he did, he would have been there from the moment you told him you were pregnant.”

I shake my head, not wanting to believe it. “Then who is Jennifer? She answered his phone twice. That’s not a one-night stand.”

“I don’t know who she is, but I’ll find out. I promise you that.”

Cara gets up, walks around the desk, and pulls me into a hug. “Thank you for being a damn good mother to my nieces. I can only imagine how hard it’s been for you.” Cara lets me go and hands me another tissue. I’ve been holding this in for four years. My mom doesn’t even know. I was too embarrassed. “Bianca, can I ask you for a few favors?”

I’m a little hesitant but I still give a shaky nod.
