Everyone turns to her speechless. If I know my sister, she’s already made up her mind to do the trade-off. She’ll never be able to live with the guilt if anything happened to Maria because she got caught up in our mess.
“Well too fuckin’ bad because he can’t have you.”
Cara turns a furious gaze on Viper and then she’s on her feet, pacing the room. Everyone sits there on pins and needles waiting for her to blow.
“I can’t sit here and do nothing while he’s doing God knows what to her over somethingIdid.”
This has gone too far. This could have been handled completely differently instead of all this because your sister gets butt hurt, so you start an entire war. You would think after losing the majority of his gang, he would just disappear, but I guess like his sister, he isn’t too bright in the head.
“Cara, I am not handing you over to him,” Viper growls at her.
Cara keeps pacing and muttering things to herself, but no one can understand her. Everyone has a look of worry on their faces because this isn’t Cara. I guess thinking of what could happen to Maria has her on the verge of a breakdown. All of a sudden she stops, and she sends a pleading look to Viper.
“I… I can’t let her get hurt because of me.”
Viper’s eyes soften and he gets up and walks over to her, wrapping her in his arms, trying to sooth her. After a few minutes of silence, Sara speaks up.
“What if we make him believe we’ll do the trade-off?”
Everyone turns to her, waiting for her to continue. “We’ll make him believe we’re going to trade Cara for Maria and then we kill them. Once we have Maria secure, we take them out.”
“I don’t like this,” Viper says, shaking his head.
“It’s the only way, honey. I can’t live with myself if something happens to her.”
Viper still looks ready to deny Cara but sighs and shakes his head. “We’ll do it, but we need to come up with a plan that ensures not only your safety but Maria’s as well.”
After a few hours of planning, Pyro sends us a location. Viper sends ten of the guys to guard my parents’ house. I wish I could reassure Bianca right now, but I have to keep my focus on the task. By the time we pull out of the gate, it’s nighttime.
Sara and Cara are in Cara’s truck, seeing as it’s safer than being on the back of a bike. We don’t know if this is a setup or not. We follow the coordinates to the location he picked out and we pull into a field after thirty minutes of driving. When we spot a parked SUV, we park our bikes with a bit of a distance in between us.
We all get off our bikes as Cara exits the truck. Sara stays inside. She was under strict instructions not to leave the vehicle for any reason. Cara takes Viper’s hand at the front of the group. The SUV doors open, and Pyro stands behind Maria with a gun pointed at her head.
Maria looks unharmed, but she has tears streaming down her face and she’s been gagged. When Pyro spots Cara, he starts laughing like the lunatic he is. He has no clue what’s in store for him tonight.
“I was kind of hoping you wouldn’t go for the trade. I wanted to have some fun with this little spicy Latina, but I guess I’ll just have that fun with your Ol’ Lady,” he says as he grabs one of Maria’s breasts. Maria cries out through the gag and tries to pull away from Pyro.
“Motherfucker can try,” Cara snarls under her breath.
“Calm down, Hellcat,” Viper soothes while rubbing her back.
“Okay, I don’t have all night, so this is how this is going to go. My guy will stand in the middle and hold on to Maria until your wife is in the car with me and then we’ll release Maria.”
Fuck. That kind of puts a damper on the plan. We thought he would just make them both walk past each other. Once Maria was closer to us, Viper would take the first shot to kill Pyro. If they keep Maria hostage until they have Cara, we can’t make any move on him. They would kill Maria without hesitation. Cara starts walking toward Pyro before anyone can stop her.
“Cara, don’t!” Viper shouts. He makes a move to go after her but Pyro cocks his gun along with another one of his guys who has his gun trained on Cara.
“Make one move and their both dead.”
Viper growls and I can tell all he wants to do is run after Cara, but he knows as well as the rest of us, if he makes a move, he can’t guarantee to get to her before one of them gets a shot off.
“If I hear one motorcycle following us, I’ll put a bullet through her head.”
Cara finally reaches the SUV. They shove her inside and throw Maria to the ground and take off. Sara pulls up in Cara’s truck not even three seconds after the SUV speeds off. Letting down the window, she yells out, “Viper, let’s go!”
She shuffles over the middle console and takes the passenger seat. Viper takes off with me and Torch right behind him. “Axel, get Maria to safety. I’ll call you as soon as I can.”
We get into the truck and take off after the SUV. We catch up in no time. Viper kills the headlights on the truck. This dirt path we’re driving on has no streetlights. Cara’s truck is all black with tinted windows. I know there’s no way they can see us but we still keep a good distance. One wrong move and he could kill Cara.
