It’s been a few days since the big breakfast and Cam bought me that ridiculously expensive SUV. When he came back from church, he explained how the MC worked. He told me about the bunnies, and I was flabbergasted. I couldn’t believe women sign up to have sex with a clubhouse full of men, but he assured me they're here by their own free will.
When he told me about the Knights, it scared me to death. These men almost killed Bear all because his sister lost her job and Cara choked her. I felt like that was taking things a bit far. I was shocked to find out Cara had choked someone, but Blade explained how his sister was. She doesn’t tolerate disrespect from anyone, and she’s trained to take down men twice her size.
I’m not going to lie, the thought of having Cara teach me some self-defense moves crossed my mind. It took a lot to wrap my mind around this whole MC thing, but Cam told me about all the businesses the club runs. They don’t deal in anything illegal, but that doesn’t stop people like Pyro coming for them. I don’t agree with taking the law into your own hands, but he assured me nothing will ever come back on me or the girls.
He's not allowed to tell me club business and that’s one of the reasons why. Not knowing anything keeps me protected. I still don’t like it, but I want to give him a chance before I jump the gun. I didn’t like finding out Cam runs a strip club. I’m pretty sure he’s tempted, seeing naked women every day, but he assured me he’s never slept with any of the girls at the club and he never would.
Right now, I’m in the SUV with Cara and Sara, headed back to the compound after leaving work. We have eight guys surrounding the truck and it’s like this every day we leave. On the days I leave alone, it’ll be just like this. Cara drops me off but before I can walk away, she puts her window down and calls me over.
“Have fun,” she says with a cheeky grin and drives away.
I stand there confused for a second. When I open the door, Cam is standing there in a black button-down shirt, black slacks, and he’s holding a bouquet of roses. My mouth drops open when I see all the roses on the floor and tiny candles lit everywhere. He has the curtains drawn so it’s dark. There’s a table for two in the middle of the living room with a white tablecloth and more rose petals scattered on top.
“W-what is all this?” I ask.
“Our first date, Coco. I would love to take you out, but your safety is more important. Now, I have a dress on the bed with some shoes. I want you to wash the day away and slip that sexy body of yours into that dress and join me for dinner.”
Rushing forward, I plant my lips against his. This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. Cam quickly takes over the kiss and thrusts his tongue into my mouth. I feel the kiss all the way to my toes and butterflies are flapping away in my belly. When I suck on his tongue, he breaks the kiss with a groan.
“Dress, Coco, or I’ll fuck you right here.”
I don’t have a single problem with that, but I know he put a lot into this, so I’ll behave. For now. I grab my roses and take them into the room. When I see the beautiful black dress and stunning shoes on the bed, I bounce in excitement. Taking off to the shower, I shave as fast as I can and then shower in my favorite bodywash.
After lathering my body down with my lotion, I touch up my hair and put on the beautiful dress. When I make it to the living room, Cam is sitting at the table, waiting for me. His eyes eat up every inch of my body and heat pools at my center. Cam pulls out my chair and pushes it back in, leaning next to my ear. “You look so fuckin’ good, Coco. I can’t wait to have my taste.”
A giggle slips free, and I smile wide at his corny line. He really did remember every detail from that night. He fills my glass with wine and removes the lid from my plate. A groan leaves my lips at the delicious meal in front of me—ribeye steak with a twice baked potato, asparagus, and mac and cheese. On top of the steak is grilled shrimp with melted garlic butter.
“Who cooked this?” I ask him with a smile.
“I did, Coco.” I gasp and look at him with wide eyes as he nods with a grin. “Mama taught me and Torch a few things, so we never had to depend on having a woman to eat a home-cooked meal. Lucky for me, my woman is a chef,” he says, winking at me. When Cam gestures for me to take a bite, I cut into my steak and pop a piece into my mouth.
A moan comes out before I can stop it and Cam growls. When I look over, his eyes are heated, and I drop my gaze, smiling to myself. “So, tell me how the son of a billionaire joins an MC?” Cam looks at me with furrowed brows and I think about how that sounded. “Babe, I don’t mean that in a judgmental way. I just want to know what made you take this path.” His eyes soften and he gives me a nod.
“Growing up, Torch and I were always the bad boys of the school. We never really connected with that lifestyle at all and, honestly, neither did my sisters. Everyone seemed so stuck up and fake. When we were sixteen, our best friend Wyatt’s baby sister, Frances, was going through a rebellious phase. She was only a year younger, but she was partying with college kids.”
A gasp leaves my lips and Cam nods with a look of sadness. “One night, she called Wyatt saying she thought she had been drugged and asked Wyatt to come get her. He drove to the sorority house and found three men raping her. He completely lost it. He beat the shit out of all three of them and one ended up critically injured. He ended up dying after being in a coma for three months. They gave Wyatt life behind bars for it.”
“What? How is that right? They raped his sister!”
I’m so angry right now and I don’t even know Wyatt personally. All he did was protect her and he gets life because of it. “When you know the right people, everything isn’t black and white.” Cam shakes his head in disgust.
“Torch and I visit him all the time. He keeps his head up and minds his own business. Dad has been trying for years to get him out, but whoever has their hands in this, it’s too messy and nobody wants to get involved. What about you? How was life growing up as Bianca Harris?”
“I never knew my dad. When Mom told him about me, he told her to get an abortion. When she refused, he left her. Mom would work two, sometimes three jobs to keep a roof over our heads. When I got a scholarship, she worked day in and day out to help pay for my books and everything I needed. After I got pregnant, the few friends I had turned their backs on me when I wasn’t available to party anymore. It was hard being a single mother, but my mom was there every step of the way. Then she got sick and eventually found out about her heart, and now, here we are with you.”
“I’m sorry you dealt with all that bullshit. I get so angry thinking about how I missed all those years with the girls.” I had almost forgotten about Jennifer. Seeing how it’s just us for the first time, I figure it’s now or never.
“Who is Jennifer?” I ask him. His eyes widen a little and then he sighs.
“I didn’t want to get into this just yet, but I know you want answers. Jennifer is one of the bunnies. She goes by Ivy. We were always cool, and I thought we had a mutual understanding. Sex, no strings. Then I found out she pulled that shit with you and I lost it.”
“What happened to her?”
“What I’m about to tell you can’t leave this room, Coco.” I give him a nod and he continues. “When Cara first came here, one of the bunnies was obsessed with Viper. Candy started doing all kinds of things to separate Viper and Cara. She had someone beat and attempt to rape Cara and, when that didn’t work, she had Cara kidnapped while she was pregnant with the triplets.”
I sit there stunned. What kind of world have I gotten myself mixed up in? Kidnap, rape, and beatings… this is just too much. “Now, calm down, Coco. These kinds of things aren’t happening all the time. After what Candy pulled, we felt it would be best to keep Ivy here, that way we can keep an eye on her.”
“Am I in danger?”
