“Come on, baby. Let me see those beautiful eyes.” I’m smoothing the hair out of her face. I just need to see her eyes. It’s like sitting on pins and needles waiting for her to wake up.

“Prez, you think my eyes are beautiful?” Torch asks with a smirk.

I give him the finger and chuckle. That seems to break the ice in the room. After a few moments, Cara’s eyes start to flutter open. Her right eye is only partially open because it’s swollen but her left flicks open. When she looks up at me, she smiles.

“Jace. You found me.”

ChapterTwenty-Two

CARA

I’m happy to see Viper and my siblings surrounding me. Doc is standing at the end of the bed watching me. Duke and Daisy whine and I look at them. My lips twitch into a small smile. I know the prospect is definitely dead judging by the amount of blood they are covered in. I can tell they’ve tried to clean themselves but I know they haven’t left my side. My dogs are beyond loyal to me. I still need the confirmation.

“Is he dead?” I ask Jace.

He nods and gives me a small smile. “Cara, can you tell us what happened?” Doc asks. I go over the story and tell them everything. Viper and my brothers look murderous. Sara is crying. She hates the idea of possibly losing anyone else after losing her parents. I give her hand a squeeze to let her know I’m fine. My face hurts but that’s about it. I start to wonder if he did rape me.

“D-did he?”

Viper shakes his head. “He was about to, but we got to you in time. Doc checked you over to make sure.” I cringe. I know Doc is a professional, but it’s weird. I see this man every day.

“Who told him you used to be a bunny?” Cam growls.

“I don’t know. He didn’t say who. He seemed pretty confident that he had all the facts.”

“Whoever it is, they’re dead when I find out who said it!” Viper growls. He is definitely right about that. I have an idea who said that crap, but I need proof.

“Well, the napkin explains why I didn’t find anything like that in your blood stream.”

“You said ‘like that’. Did you find something in my blood?” I ask Doc.

I’m nervous. What did he mean by that? Doc clears his throat. “Can I speak freely?” he asks, looking at me. I nod my head.

“You’re pregnant.”

My mouth falls open. Fuck. I had been so caught up in my daze with Jace, I didn’t even think about getting on birth control and the man has never used a condom.

“P-pregnant?” I repeat. He nods his head. I look at Jace and he’s smiling like the Cheshire Cat. I’m relieved he’s happy, but he has no idea what this means. I look at my siblings and they’re trying to hold in their laughter.

“Aren’t you happy, babe? Don’t you want to have a baby with me?” Viper asks. I can see the vulnerability in his eyes. It cuts me deep that he feels the need to ask. I want nothing more than to have a family with him.

I give him a nod. “It’s not that, honey. It’s just… oh how do I put this.” I take a breath. Cam and Chris let out a few chuckles. “It’s not funny, you assholes!” I hiss.

“What’s going on?” Viper asks, looking confused.

“Twins, triplets, and multiples run in my father’s family. In this generation alone, we have a set of quadruplets, four sets of triplets, and six sets of twins. I don’t know who pissed a witch off, but the heffa cursed our family. The fact that I’m a triplet heightens the chance that there is more than one baby inside of me.”

Jace eyes are huge. He looks at my siblings who nod then to Doc who also nods.

“You mean to tell me we could be having more than one baby?” he asks with a smile. I nod and he jumps up, pumping a fist in the air. “Can I tell Pops?” I nod again and Jace calls him into the room. When he sets his eyes on me, I see him breathe a sigh of relief.

“Baby girl, you almost gave me a heart attack.”

“Sorry. Next time I’ll let Viper take me to the bathroom.” I will never make that mistake again. I don’t know if this is a normal occurrence, but walking alone during a MC party is no-go for me now.

“This isn’t your fault. You get that out of your head right now, young lady!” Pops scolds me.

I love this old man. He’s like a second father to me. Smiling up at him, I tell him, “We have news for you.”
