VIPER
Cara has been gone for ten minutes now. Duke and Daisy are lying next to my chair. They have really become attached to me over time. I’ve had to kick them out of my bed more times than I can count. I reach down and scratch the top of Duke’s head. My nerves are on edge. Just as I’m about to go looking for her, my cell rings. It’s Bobby.
“Where is she?” I ask.
“That’s what I was about to ask you. I’ve been watching the door since you called. When she didn’t show, I figured I would call you.”
My heart drops. Where the hell is she? Just as I’m about to get up and look for her, Duke and Daisy release the most ferocious growls and take off running. I’ve only heard them growl like that once, and that’s when Candy pushed Cara. Automatically, I know something is wrong. Judging by the looks on Sara, Blade, and Torch’s face, they know it too.
We all take off after the dogs. Some of my brothers are right behind me and a few from the other chapters. We follow them into the woods and my heart drops. No. Please God, no. I see a figure lying on top of someone. The closer I get, I see it’s one of Crow prospects and the body on the ground is Cara. She’s unconscious and her pants are around her knees. Her panties have been ripped off. Duke and Daisy let out a snarl. The prospect looks up and his eyes go wide in fear when he sees the dogs coming at him. His pants are hanging around his ass.
Duke and Daisy leap into the air and tackle the prospect off Cara. Duke latches on to his neck and Daisy bites into his side. They’re ripping his ass apart. He screams, begging for someone to get them off. I can’t focus on anything other than my woman. She has been beaten. Badly. Her face is bloody, and her lip is split. One of her eyes is almost swollen shut.
“Baby,” I choke out as I kneel beside her. I’m afraid to touch her. I don’t know what her injuries are. I know she’s breathing because I can see the rise and fall of her chest. I take my cut off, remove my shirt and cover up her lower half.
“Somebody go get Doc! Now!” I shout.
“I’ll go.” Thor voice cracks from the two words he just spoke. When I look up, I see tears in his eyes. He and my woman are extremely close. At first, I had my hackles up when they started to spend time together, but then I noticed the change in Thor. He’s always seemed like a happy guy but now he seems carefree. They actually chill and watch movies in our room while Cara paints her toes. She’s still trying to convince Thor to let her give him a pedicure. Thor takes off and I put my attention back on Cara. After the screaming has stopped, I look up and see the prospect has been ripped apart. Duke and Daisy are covered in his blood. He is dead for sure. There’s a huge piece missing from his neck.
“What the hell was Zeke thinking?” Crow growls. I want to beat his ass. He brought that motherfucker here, but deep down, I know he isn’t in control of other people’s actions. Duke and Daisy run over to Cara growling. I step back just a little. They’re standing over her, protecting her. I know they’re on edge. They don’t know who else is a threat to her.
“It’s okay, you two. You did your job. You protected her. Come on so we can help her,” Sara soothes them. They step back just a little, but they’re still right next to her.
Finally, Doc walks up with Thor right behind him. He kneels and starts checking Cara out. Duke growls at Doc. “I’m just trying to help her, big guy. I don’t mean any harm,” Doc says softly. I can see the fear in his eyes. Seeing what they just did to Zeke, I wouldn’t want to be on their bad side either.
“Viper, pick her up and carry her to your room.” I look up at Doc and he gives me a nod, letting me know it’ll be fine to pick her up.
I pull her pants up best I can and pick her up. When I start walking, Duke and Daisy are right behind me. They’re not going to let her out of their sight. “Thor, shut the party down. Anybody who isn’t a member, I want them out!” I bellow, walking into the clubhouse. A couple of people step out of the way in fear when they see the state that Duke and Daisy are in.
I lay Cara in my bed and Doc is right behind me with his medical bag. He tells me to strip Cara down to something simple. He leaves and lets me do what he asked. I strip her naked and then put one of my shirts on her. I call Doc back in and he starts cleaning her wounds. He checks her eyes with his flashlight.
“She doesn’t have any scars or bruises outside the ones on her face. She definitely put up a fight. Her knuckles are a bit bruised but other than that, I don’t see any signs of rape. He did give her something though. Its why she’s unconscious.”
I’m relieved to know it didn’t go that far but she shouldn’t have been hurt at all!
“Can you find out what he gave her?”
“Yeah. I just need to take some blood.”
I give him a nod. He takes Cara’s blood and tells me he’s going to the hospital to run it. He’ll come back once he has the results. After he leaves the room, I grab a chair and watch her. I want to kill that motherfucker. Duke and Daisy stole the chance from me. I made it perfectly clear to everyone that Cara is mine. Did he honestly think he would get away with it?
My woman’s beautiful face has been beaten badly. If his ass was still alive, I would have tortured his ass for weeks. A knock sounds on the door and I know it’s her siblings.
“Come in!”
They walk in and I can tell all three have been crying. Blade and Torch both walk over and kiss her forehead. Sara removes her shoes and gets into the bed with her. She keeps a safe distance, so she doesn’t disturb her.
“What made that prospect think he would get away with that shit?” Blade growls, breaking the silence in the room.
Torch shakes his head, fury written all over his face. “I don’t know but he better be glad Duke and Daisy killed him before I could get my hands on him.”
“What did Doc say, Viper?” Sara asks.
“He said she should be fine. Most of her injures are to her face, but he did say Zeke drugged her.”
“Probably why Cara didn’t kick his ass. I was trying to understand how he got the upper hand.” Blade has told us countless times what the girls are capable of. I’ve seen Cara and Sara spar in the gym in the clubhouse. They really are highly trained to defend themselves. I have no doubts that if he hadn’t drugged her, she would have kicked his ass.
We all go quiet and just watch Cara. About three hours pass and a knock sounds on the door. I tell whoever it is to come in. Doc walks in and he looks a little uneasy. Just as I’m about to ask him what’s going on, Cara starts to stir.
