“Go hold your own damn daughter! This one’s mine,” Axel continues to argue.

“Jesus Christ, Axel! Just once, can’t you just hand over my granddaughter? You’re a grown assed man wearing a diaper and my granddaughter shouldn’t have to be exposed to your special brand of insanity! Hand her over, right the fuck now, or else,” Petey spits out.

“You have other granddaughters. I only have one child. I went through hell bringing her into this world, and I deserve to enjoy some daddy/daughter time,” Axel replies with a full-on pout gracing his face.

Alex leans into her dad and places both palms on his cheeks. Giving him a wet, noisy kiss, she pulls back and takes all the fight out of her dad.

“Pops,” she says in a sweet voice.

“Love you, little monkey. Have fun with your Pops,” Axel says in defeat as he hands her over to her beaming Pops.

Petey shoots his son a wicked grin, takes his granddaughter and saunters off. Axel’s entire body glares at his dad’s back before he turns my direction.

“Is it illegal to kidnap one’s own child?”

“Under certain circumstances, yes,” I answer.

“That’s fucked up. I need a drink,” Axel says with a sigh.

“Thought nursing moms couldn’t consume alcohol, Axel. Better stick to root beer,” taunts Trigger.

“Nurse this, old man!” Axel barks back as he storms away.

“What did Axel mean when he said he went through hell bringing Alex into this world?” I ask the group.

My question is met with several chuckles. For the next few minutes, the guys take turns explaining Axel’s pregnancy symptoms he thought he suffered. I also heard how Chubs delivered little Alex while Gunner lost his mind. Gunner vehemently denied this, but I know they were speaking the truth. I’ve seen men of all walks of life lose their shit when something’s out of their control.

“We need a few minutes in Church,” Rex states as he stops next to Gunner.

Eyes turn sharp and backs straighten as the men hear what I did in Rex’s voice. There’s a problem and the club needs to handle it. Before anyone says a word, I speak up.

“Go do what you need to, Cash. I’ll get the Aunts and Liam home if you get tied up.”

“You sure? Dad can—,” Cash starts, but I cut him off.

“Yeah, I got them. Go.”

Going up on tiptoes, I brush my lips across the underside of his jawbone and walk off. I catch James’s eye and nod my head toward the table where Lars and Terry are sitting with Liam. James meets me there, and we watch silently as the club members retreat to a back room.

“Problem?” Lars asks.

“Yeah, something came up. I told Cash I’d take the Aunts and Liam home if he has to go.”

“Let’s go to our house. Cash can come there when he’s done,” orders Lottie when she reaches our table.

Several minutes later, the men re-enter the main room and we wait for Cash to make his way to us.

“Got to go deal with something. Liam’s car seat’s in my truck so take that instead of your car, okay?” Cash asks quietly.

We swap keys so he has my car to use and start gathering everything up. Between Terry, James and myself we have all the gifts loaded and ready to go by the time the guys are leaving.

“I don’t know how long I’ll be. You going to my place?” Cash asks on his way out the door.

“Going to the Aunts place first. If you’re not back soon, I’ll take Liam to your place and get him ready for bed. That okay?”

“Perfect. Thanks,” Cash answers with a brief kiss and then he’s gone.
