“Rex will be by later today with paperwork for you. He contacted the club attorney and had everything drawn up that you’ll need for Liam,” Axel says. “Bailey’s also coming. She needs your signature on some stuff to get Liam added to your health insurance.”

Hearing my garage door go up, I know Dad’s here. He has a garage door opener and always comes in that way because I put a ramp in the garage for his wheelchair. I grin when I hear him and Terry bickering as they come through the door. Same argument they always have running.

“I’m just saying, you’ve put on weight, Lars. It’s getting harder to push you up ramps. A few more salads and a few less burgers would solve your problem,” Terry states.

“Lifting weights instead of Appletini’s would solve yours,” my dad retorts.

“Hello, beautiful men,” Terry pants over-dramatically.

“Papa’s here. Hand over my grandson,” Dad demands.

Chubs hands Liam over before making his way to the fridge. When Axel blocks the door, we all know he’s crossed a line. Every Devil’s Angels member knows better than to get between Chubs and food. It’s something we teach the children from an early age. When Axel crosses his arms over his chest and grins at Chubs, it’s on.

And it’s over in .09 seconds flat when Chubs body slams Axel to his back on the floor. To add insult to injury, Chubs then stands on Axel’s prone body while rummaging through the fridge. Coming out with a jar of pickles, Chubs calmly steps off Axel and returns to his seat at the table.

“What the fuck, Chubs? Where’d you learn that move?” Axel asks as he gets back to his feet.

“Ava. She teaches me things. Important things. And she cooks for me. Chubs loves Ava,” Chubs responds while chowing down on dill pickles.

“She’s been working with Bella too. As hard as those two are practicing every day, Axel’s going to be the biggest girl in the Taylor family,” Pooh adds with a laugh.

“Going to be? That ship already sailed,” I interject.

“Fuck all of you,” Axel mutters.

“Can I watch?” Terry asks with a salacious grin. “I’ll supply the lube and popcorn.”

“I could do popcorn,” Chubs adds.

“I could do Axel,” Terry states while giving Axel’s ass a pat.

“That makes sense. I’m completely doable,” Axel answers.

“Before you talk yourself into a position I’m thinking you’ve never been in before, Axel, I want to talk about something important,” Dad cuts in before turning his head to look at me. “How’d your date go?”

My mind blanks as I stare back at my dad. Maybe it’s baby brain, but my thoughts are slow to form. Dad’s eyes quickly start taking on that look that’s a cross between anger and disappointment when Livi’s name and face pop into my head. Fuck me.

“What date?” Pooh asks.

“Fuck, Dad, I forgot all about it with what went down with Liam,” I answer while feeling like an ass.

“Call her, Cash. Explain that you forgot and hope Livi will give you another chance to ruin her day,” Dad orders sarcastically.

“Livi? Who’s Livi?” Pooh butts in.

“Did you say Livi? As in Officer Olivia Moore? That Livi?” Axel asks loudly.

“Officer? As in cop?” I question Axel.

“Oh, this is fucking priceless! Welcome to the land of fuckups, Cash!” Axel shouts while doubling over laughing.

“She’s a cop?” I ask again.

“Rex looked into that cop, James Green, that laid it out for Pigeon. His partner’s a female named Olivia Moore. Goes by Livi. They’re tight, and word has it they’d die for each other. Or kill for each other depending on the circumstances. Definition of ride or die type partners. This explains everything. You stood up a cop on a date? Yeah, you’re a dead man, especially when Pigeon and Dad hear why Officer Green has a hard-on for the Devil’s Angels,” Axel explains once he gets control of his laughter.

“Call her and explain,” Dad says again.

“Don’t have her number,” I mumble.
