“Yes, please do, Trigger. It would be so nice to dine with someone other than her,” Lola adds while trying to maintain an innocent expression.
“Uh, um, well, you see, I’m looking for Tammy. You remember her, don’t you?” Trigger stutters. “Tammy. Yes, you’ve met her. My woman.”
I’m struggling not to laugh out loud and by the looks Trigger’s tossing my direction, he knows it. I’ll be hearing about this later. Probably more than once since the man knows how to gnaw on a bone forever. After the last time the Aunts were here, Trigger begged me to never bring them again. I think he was okay with the compliments and flirting. The ass grabbing–not so much. Tammy, though, found it hilarious and refused to bail him out of the situation.
“Sorry, Trigger. I’d help you out, but I’m just glad it’s not me in their line of fire for a change,” announces Terry as he pushes Dad up to our table and takes a seat next to him.
“Hey, Terry. Lars. Nice to see you guys. I gotta go. Tammy’s calling me,” Trigger says as he pulls his silent cell phone out and glances at it.
“Nope, it’s not me,” Tammy states with a wide grin as she steps up next to Trigger. “Hi, ladies! We’d be happy to eat with you tonight.”
Trigger’s groan isn’t completely drowned out by the snickers in the clubhouse. I watch in amusement as he’s pulled down to a chair sitting between Tammy and Lottie. His fate is sealed, and he knows it. Even my dad is grinning at him.
“Dinner will be ready in about ten minutes,” Bailey announces from the kitchen doorway.
“Lottie said you have a date this week, Cash. Glad you took my advice and asked Livi out. Don’t mess it up, okay? I can come with if you want and keep you on track,” Dad suggests.
“I’m good.”
“Sure? You’re in your thirties and still single. Obviously, you’re doing something wrong,” Dad insists.
I know better than to get offended at his remarks. Dad’s always joked about wanting grandbabies and how it’s my duty to get him some. This has been a long-running joke between us.
“Cash and I can consider adopting a child as soon as he quits fighting his attraction for me,” Terry adds with a lewd wink.
“That’s ridiculous, Terry. Cash isn’t one of those fancy pants you date,” Lola says.
“You don’t know that, Lola,” Terry insists.
“I do know that and… oh, look at you tonight, Gee!” Lola exclaims as Gee stops next to her.
Gee is Ava’s pet pig and a cute little shit. Tonight, he’s wearing a black t-shirt that states in white lettering: The PigFather.
Laughing at his shirt, I glance at my club brother Pooh and watch as he grins and raises his beer my direction. Pooh, for some odd reason, started buying t-shirts for Gee when he was first brought to the clubhouse. The tradition has continued, but at least tonight’s shirt is G-rated. Not all of them are.
Reaching down, I give Gee a scratch on his ear and grin at his little pig snort. Being a clean freak, I wasn’t thrilled when I saw a pig running around the clubhouse. It didn’t take long to realize that pigs are cleaner than dogs, though. He doesn’t shed and he always uses his litter box. Since then, I’ve thought a few times that I wouldn’t mind having a pig as a pet.
“Hi, Aunties,” Craig hollers and waves from across the room.
Craig ambles our direction with a big smile on his face. For once, he’s even clean. I know without asking that means that Taja will be here tonight too. Craig’s got a soft spot for Taja and only willingly takes a bath when he knows she’s going to be around. Thank God for Taja because before her, that was one freaky-ass dirty child.
“Hi, Craig. Come give Auntie Lottie some love,” Lottie orders.
“I will, but no pinching my cheeks. That shi… stuff hurts,” Craig says as he’s hugged first by Lottie and then Lola.
“Kid ain’t wrong,” mutters Trigger.
“You’re getting big, Craig. And more handsome every time we see you,” Lola tells him.
“That’s what everyone tells me. I figure if I keep growing and get more handsome, Taja will notice too,” Craig answers.
“Craig, honey, you know that Taja loves you, but she loves Vex too,” Lottie carefully says.
“Yeah, I know. But Vex will mess up. The guys always do,” Craig says confidently.
“That’s true. Well, Craig, good luck. Just remember that when you have a woman, treat her right,” advises Lola as she and Craig fist bump.
“What the hell, woman? No, just no!” shouts Trigger as he jumps to his feet and shoots a murderous look at Lottie.
