It’s morning and I’m beyond irritated. We showered together and the experience of running soapy hands all over Vex is one I’ll never forget. Feeling him do the same to me was unbelievably hot. It wasn’t long before I was pressed up against the shower wall and Vex was deep inside me. After the best shower sex ever, we dried off, got dressed and Vex got on my bad side.
“I adore you for wanting to take care of us, but it’s not right and I’m not going to go along with that. I’m pregnant, not disabled. I can, and will, continue working for as long as I can,” I snap at him. Again, since he ignored me the first time.
“You’re fucking adorable when you’re mad, Taj. But the mother of my child isn’t going to be on her feet all night in a strip club. You’re not going to be serving drunks and perverts while growing our child. For that to happen, I’m going to pay your bills and every other fucking thing I choose to pay for,” Vex calmly says. Again, since I ignored him the first time, he said it.
“You’re so fucking annoying! You can’t just decide these things and demand I go along with them,” I shout.
He grins. Yes, he grins at me. That’s like waving a red cape in front of a bull. I’m so pissed at him I can barely articulate my thoughts.
“Don’t smile at me, you ass! I’m not…”
I get half of my thought out before running for the bathroom. Before my stomach contents even hit the toilet, Vex is pulling my hair back and holding it out of the way. I try to wave him out of the room, but he ignores that too. After I think I’m finished, I reach up and flush the toilet before resting my head on my arms.
“Would now be a bad time for me to sing that old song?” Vex asks.
I think I hear a smile in his voice but he’s got to be smart enough to know that could cause his death.
“What are you talking about?” I ask while staring into the toilet bowl.
“That old song by Paul Anka. “Having my Baby.” If I was to start singing that, would it be amusing and lighten the mood? Or would that be an Axel kind of mistake that could cause great bodily harm?”
“Do it and die, biker boy,” I growl.
“I’ll just let the song run through my brain. Silently, so I don’t have to pull another Axel trick and buy you flowers until you forgive me,” he mutters.
I can clearly hear the smile and quiet laughter in his voice, and I want to snarl and snap, but he’s kind of being funny too. He hasn’t left me to suffer alone, and I know he never would. Point to the biker.
“Advice, Vex. Don’t take relationship cues from Axel. The man’s on LOTT for Christ sake,” I answer.
“Heard.”

“You’re pregnant,” my family doctor says with a smile. “I’ll have the nurse get you set up with an OB-GYN. I recommend Dr. Spitz. She’s good, one of the best in the area, and I think you’ll like her. In the meantime, here’s a prescription for pre-natal vitamins. Start them immediately.”
“Thank you, Doc.” I say as he exits the room.
Turning to Vex, I see the biggest smile ever. He’s clearly okay with this baby regardless that we didn’t plan for one. He stood tall beside me during the entire appointment. I even had to push him out the bathroom door when I needed to give a urine sample.
“Let’s go. We have things to do and people to tell,” Vex says while still grinning.
On the way out, we stop at the desk and collect the information the nurse has ready for us. While putting it into my purse, I hear Vex sharing the news.
“We’re fucking pregnant!” he shouts to the waiting room full of people.
I hear a couple of gasps but most laugh and congratulate us as we leave. Arm around my shoulders, Vex drops a hard kiss on my temple before leading me to his truck. I knew what answer the doctor was going to give us, but I’m still a little stunned. Vex is not.
We had another argument when he pulled into his bank’s parking lot. He ignored me and after he was done, we left with me still brooding. We made some other stops, including my home to pick up more things for Tessie and me. I stopped in front of a picture of Tessie, me and Mom. She would be excited about the baby. I know she’d never be disappointed in me for letting this happen. She always saw the good side of everything. And she’d love Vex for many reasons.
“Bring it, baby. We should have your mom with us. Maybe grab a picture or two for Tessie too. Anything that means something, bring it. Until this is settled with Rooster, we won’t be staying here. You won’t be alone. You’ll always have protection as will Tessie. But you both need your mom with you,” Vex says quietly from behind me.
He’s right, so I gather up photo albums and mom’s jewelry box. She didn’t have anything expensive, but what she had meant something to her and now us. Tessie will be thrilled to have her favorite picture of the three of us. I am too.
Walking into the clubhouse, I see Axel sitting alone on a couch in the corner. Leaving Vex’s side, I approach the couch and take a seat next to Axel.
“Everything okay, Axel?” I ask.
“Yeah. Just waiting for Bailey to finish feeding Alex,” he answers in a quiet tone.
