“Number is up. Use my phone,” Vex states as he hands Tessie his phone.
Tessie makes the call and walks over to the car to order what she needs. Meanwhile, Vex turns to face me, and I notice the grin’s back in place.
“If she likes working on cars that much, you’ve got to let her go to the garage. They have a garage bay that’s used by the club members to tinker with their rides. She can use that. She’d have access to every tool imaginable, and the guys would be there to help if she needed it. You won’t be charged for labor because she’d be doing the work. All good guys work there. She’d be safe as hell. Trigger, Petey and Chubs would be around and nobody will mess with her with them nearby. I promise that on my life, Taja. Ask Suki.”
“Yes! Please, Taja, please! It’d be fricking awesome to work in a real garage!” Tessie begs as she rushes up to us apparently overhearing Vex. I’m torn. I don’t like the idea of her being around MC members, but that’s not being fair. I’ve been treated with nothing but respect from the Devil’s members that I’ve met. I don’t want to judge them based on Rooster’s club, but it’s hard ignoring what I know of some MCs.
“Let me call Suki and see what she thinks, and then I’ll decide, okay?”
“Fair enough,” Vex answers.
I step away and make another call to Suki. After the phone call, I turn to Tessie and nod my head. I still have reservations about this, but Suki was pretty convincing. Tessie’s whoop, mile-wide smile and fist bump with Vex eases my mind a little.
It’s not long before a wrecker pulls into my driveway and another Devil’s member steps out of the truck. Much to my amazement, he lifts a jiggly, red and black spotted pig out of the truck and sets it on the ground. The pig’s wearing lime green muck boots and a t-shirt that reads: Bacon Booty. Tessie and I both laugh as it clomps its way to stand in front of us.
“That’s Gee. I’m Chubs. Nice to meet you lovely ladies,” the curly haired guy says with a dimpled smile. “Hey, Brother Vex.”
“Hey, Chubs. Thanks for coming. Taja works as a bartender at Dreams and Tessie would like to go to the garage and work on their car herself. Can you make that happen?” Vex asks him while pointing to each of us.
“Absolutely! You work on cars, Tessie?” Chubs asks, eyebrows raised.
“I’m teaching myself how. I like fixing things,” Tessie responds proudly.
“Good for you, girl. Great skill to have. Hey, Taja. Sorry I haven’t met you sooner, but I don’t go to Dreams unless the MC needs me to,” Chubs says apologetically.
I like him already. I can’t explain it, but he just radiates kindness. And how do you not like a guy who rides around with a pig?
“No problem, Chubs. Nice to meet you too. Are you sure it’s okay if Tessie works at the shop?”
“Sure is. Petey and Trigger are going to love having someone around to teach things to. She’ll be safe, Taja. I’ll bring her home when she’s done. No worries.”
“Thank you. Call me when you get home, Tess,” I say while aiming my eyes at her.
Vex walks away with Chubs to help get the car loaded onto the wrecker. I turn to Tessie and see her petting Gee. He’s making contented little snorts and grunts, and Tessie couldn’t smile any bigger. I love seeing that on her face. It’s been a long time since we had anything to smile about.
After the car’s loaded, I watch Tessie, Chubs and Gee drive away. I can’t delay this any longer. I take a deep breath while placing my hand on Vex’s shoulder. I swing my leg over his bike and settle down behind him. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I connect my fingers and hold on. When I realize I’m getting lightheaded, I release my breath. My whole body’s tingling, and I don’t know how to get it to stop. I know being pressed up against Vex is the cause, so I try to relax and just enjoy the ride. Not surprisingly, I enjoy every second of it.
Chapter 8
Vex
I’m a dumbass. I could’ve run back to the clubhouse and switched my bike for my truck when Suki called but I wanted to have Taja this close. Now, I’m regretting my impulsiveness. This is fucking torture. We’re pressed tight together, and I’m loving it way too much. I’m hard in a way that I know isn’t going to go away without help. So, while I’m currently enjoying the feeling of her, I know it’s going to turn painful soon. Fuck me. Making matters worse for me is that Taja feels like a natural on my bike and with her arms wrapped around my body. This isn’t good for my peace of mind. I’m a man-whore. I need to remind myself of that and not to start thinking of just one woman. Especially Taja because Freddy will hang me by my dangling parts if I do anything he deems as inappropriate.
I ignore my inner voice that’s telling me to skip work and just keep riding. I pull to a stop near the entrance door and wait with gritted teeth for Taja to dismount. She does so while giving my shoulder a squeeze, thanks me and walks inside. I relax my jaw, take a deep breath before releasing the clutch and riding my bike to my parking spot. I’m not much of a smoker, but I pull a pack from my vest and light one up. I need a few minutes to relax before spending the rest of the night knowing I have to do this all over again to get her home. Again, fuck me.
A few hours (and one quick bathroom jackoff session) later I see Taja looking at her phone. A huge smile appears on her face while she’s rapidly texting back to whoever is on the other end. I find myself frowning while thinking that a guy might’ve caused that smile. I wander over to the bar and take a seat. Suki sets a beer down in front of me and leans against her side of the bar.
“Don’t make me stab you, Vex. I like you, but I’ll stab you if you don’t keep your hands, and cock, away from Taja,” Suki says conversationally.
“Already had this chat with Freddy,” I answer.
“I knew I loved that man for a reason,” Suki grins.
I grin back at her as I lift my beer bottle to my mouth. I’m not offended by Suki’s comment. She’s the best kind of person Taja could have as a friend. I admire Suki for being who she is and not being afraid to live her life as she wants. She takes no shit, no prisoners when something riles her and she’s loyal to the max. Good person, through and through.
“That was Tessie,” Taja informs us when she stops beside Suki. “I haven’t seen her this excited about something in months. Maybe even a year or so. She’s totally loving the garage and the guys there.”
“Knew she would. They’re good guys,” I reply.
