Axel: This must be Pippa because Pooh wouldn’t be so nice. See you soon!
-*- -*- -*- -*-
We’re chowing down on appetizers, the guys are enjoying a beer (Craig’s is root beer) when Vex nods his head at someone behind Pooh. Pooh turns in his seat, groans, and turns back around. Vex chuckles and I’m lost as to what’s going on.
“Care to share?” I ask while stuffing my face with jalapeno poppers.
“Not much to share. That week when I first asked you out, Vex and I went to a beer joint a few blocks from here. I was in a pissy mood when those two jackoffs behind me made a few derogatory remarks about a woman that was sitting there. Words were exchanged. They left. When we came out of the bar, our bikes had been knocked over.”
“Words were exchanged? That’s all?” I question knowingly. Bailey laughs and even Craig rolls his eyes.
“Pretty much,” Pooh says, grinning.
“See you found yourself a new whore. The other one decided she didn’t like biker trash anymore?” says a large man that is now standing directly behind Pooh’s chair. He’s not alone though. There are three other men standing behind him, smirking in our direction.
Pooh and Vex are immediately on their feet and facing the men. Oh, hell and damn, shit is going to go sideways.
“Let’s go outside and discuss what just came out of your mouth,” Pooh spits quietly at the larger man.
“I’d like to discuss the scratches you cowards put on my bike. Never did get payment for them,” Vex growls.
Suddenly, Craig stands up on his chair and shouts, “Punch him in the nutsack, Pooh!”
I grab Craig and try to pull him into my lap but he’s not having it. Bailey’s busy texting on her phone and the guys are occupied, so I stand up and try to get control of Craig’s body. Before I do, he picks up and hurls an onion ring like it’s a flipping frisbee. I watch in dismay as it sails across the table and hits the man square in the face.
I wrap my arms around Craig from behind and hold him still. The man’s attention leaves Pooh and is now on Craig and me. We’ve gained the attention of other patrons and a few laughs can be heard when the onion ring bounces off and hits the floor. The man it hit isn’t as amused as they are though.
“Little biker in training. You know, if you kill nits, they don’t become lice,” the man barks out.
Bailey gets to her feet and when she does, she gains his attention. His eyes travel down to her baby bump and back up to her face before he states, “Well, well, well. Tonight might be a two for one kind of evening, boys. Two birds, one stone.”
“Take this outside, guys. Right now!” orders a man who I’m assuming is the manager.
“Yeah, let’s do that,” Vex agrees as he brushes past the men and heads for the exit.
“Stay here, don’t come outside. One of us will come and get you,” Pooh orders while glancing back at us.
“I got them, they’ll be safe,” the manager says.
Pooh motions for the door and the four men walk the direction Vex took, with Pooh following. As soon as they’re out of sight, the manager takes off too. I look worriedly toward Bailey and she motions for me to take a seat.
“They’ll be fine. We’d only get in their way and divide their attention, anyway,” she reasons.
“I hope Pooh whoops some ass!” Craig says, loudly.
“I want to go out there so bad! I hate sitting here while they could be in trouble. It’s four on two, Bails!”
“It might not be. I sent a group text. And I know you told Axel where we were going, so he’ll be here soon. Cash is in town and so is Freddy.”
“Good looking out, Bailey. Axel will be mad if he misses out on this,” Craig says with a grin.
“Should we call 911?” I ask.
“No!” shouts both Bailey and Craig. Craig looks at me in dismay. Like I’m an idiot or something. What the hell?
“Club will handle this their way. You’ll get used to it soon enough,” Bailey explains.
“I’m sorry to do this, but your meals will be packed to go. I know your men didn’t start this, but we don’t want problems here. It might be best if you don’t come back here again. If you will follow me to the front, I’ll have your meals brought up there. Food is on us tonight,” the manager tells us.
