I’m close enough to him that his odor is making my eyes water. But not close enough to grab. Not yet. I wiggle around a bit, shifting my weight back and forth. I try digging a little dirt out from under my belt buckle, hoping for enough room to unhook it. The whole time, Craig is laughing like the demented little boy that Pippa claims he can be.
I finally get my belt unbuckled and find that I’m still stuck. So, I decide to give up any dignity I may have had left and unfasten my jeans and start slithering forward, leaving them behind. Craig’s eyes get big as I stretch as far as I can and nab an ankle. Holding tight, I slowly pull him my direction as he tries valiantly to scramble the other direction.
“Wait! Pooh, please! Wait!” he begs.
“Nope. It’s soap time!”
“Don’t pull me through those bushes! They bite!”
“Must not bite too much! You crawled in here!” I reason.
“Not through them! I came in from the side where there aren’t any! I’m not dumb, you know!”
Well, fuck me sideways. I didn’t even look for another way under here and now I’m the idiot with no jeans. I look to where he’s pointing and see light. Fine. Whatever. I belly crawl, grabbing the back of his shitty shirt, and bringing him with me.
Of course, as I expected, most of the club is standing in the yard, cameras out, laughing at me. I’m standing in my shredded, bloodied t-shirt and boxer briefs, gripping the shit covered kid with latex gloves on my hands. He’s struggling to get away and my best bet of getting him to a tub is to carry him. Just fucking great! I wrap an arm around his waist and hoist him up and start walking toward the clubhouse. I’m totally ignoring my club members and their comments. When Craig realizes he’s lost the battle, he starts screaming and Loki bounds forward growling. I stop dead in my tracks.
Gunner, laughing almost too hard to stand, steps forward and commands Loki to stop. He does but he’s not happy and I’m not trusting Gunner’s control over him much. I’m making a wide circle around Loki when Mac, sitting on Chubs’ shoulder, chimes up.
“Hey Shithead!” he crows.
“Hey Mac,” Craig answers dejectedly.
“Nice worm, Pooh,” Mac states as everyone cracks up again.
I look down and see my junk hanging out of my torn boxers. I can’t tuck my cock away because I have pig shit on my gloves so I Tyra Banks catwalk my ass all the way to the clubhouse. Dignity be damned.
Ava’s eyebrows hit her hairline as I strut through the kitchen, shitty kid on my hip, dick flapping in the wind. Walking toward my room, I try each door on my way past, hoping to find an unlocked one. I strike gold when I find Vex’s door unlocked. Sucks to be him because Craig’s smell is going to linger and I don’t want that in my room. Strolling in, I shut the door and take Craig directly to the bathroom. After stripping him and getting him into the shower, I place his shitty clothes in the garbage can and swipe a t-shirt from Vex’s drawer. Yes, I like this plan.
When Craig looks and smells acceptable again, I take him to my room, place him on the bed and turn on the TV for him. I then take my shower, scrubbing more than once, and get redressed. I take my damp towel and use it to clean my door knob because I’m sure it had shit on it from me opening it. Fuck the rest of the door knobs. I like sharing the love.
Pippa
After getting to the hospital and meeting up with Officer Kantola, she takes me to a small office used by the hospital’s social worker to meet Anne Preston. Sadly, I can’t make out many of her features due to the swelling and bruising of her face. Her two children are adorable but understandably scared. I introduce myself and take a seat next to her. She’s shaking and traumatized and my heart goes out to her and her kids.
I smile at the children and reach into my bag and pull out the two fluffy stuffed animals I brought for them. I hand the pink bunny to the little girl and the brown teddy bear to the boy. They both grip them tightly. This isn’t my first time and I know that if the children are calmed down and soothed, it works wonders for the mothers. I keep a supply of cute and cuddly stuffed animals and blankets in my car for just this reason.
Speaking quietly to the mother, I explain what New Horizons is about and what services we offer. She listens but still looks hesitant. Change is scary, especially when you have two children to protect. I go on to explain how much safer it is to live at New Horizons than in a car and how the children will have room to play. How we offer daycare and job placement assistance.
After a few more minutes, she nods her head. She’s made the best choice she has at the moment and I’m so glad she chose New Horizons.Officer Kantolafollows us outside and to Anne’s car. We get the kids into their car seats and I ask again if Anne is sure she’s okay to drive. She nods her head and I have to trust that she is.
“Thank you again, Officer Kantola,” I say.
“No, really, thank you,” she responds sincerely. “I don’t know what we would do if it wasn’t for places like yours. So many more would be on the streets with little hope for a better life.”
We shake hands and I walk to my car and drive out of the parking lot with Anne following me. Hopefully, Anne’s decision will mean a better life for her and her children.
Pooh
I’m so full from dinner I’m tempted to unbuckle my belt. I ate like I haven’t eaten in a week, and I should be embarrassed, but everyone does that when Ava cooks a meal for the club. Even Craig ate a full plate and had dessert to finish off his meal. Several of us are enjoying a fresh cup of coffee while digesting our dinner and laughing at Craig and the pets’ antics. Currently, Gee is pushing Craig, who is sitting on his skateboard. Mac is shouting encouragement to the giggling boy and grunting pig. Cute as hell.
Trigger walks over and plops his ass in a chair at the table I’m at and grins at the kid and pets. I like seeing him back to smiling instead of the gruff and angry man he was a few days ago.
“Where’s Tammy? I thought she was coming for dinner tonight?” I ask.
“She’s coming later. She was going to be here but when she heard Pippa was doing an intake, she said she was going to stop at New Horizons first. See if she could help out,” Trigger answers.
“Any idea how long an intake takes?”
