After taking Craig to see the pediatrician and finding out that he has the flu, I take him back to my house and we cuddle on the couch while he spends the day resting. Tammy is covering for me at New Horizons. I didn’t feel right leaving my sick boy to go to work. We watch movies and spend a lazy day together. Luckily, his fever has come down some and his stomach has settled after having some ginger ale.
I’ve received numerous texts from Pooh, Tammy, Trigger and most of the other club members and their women asking how Craig is doing. I’m touched at their concern. Ava said that her girls weren’t showing any signs yet of having caught what Craig and Bella have and I’m happy to hear that. Bailey asked if we could trade kids–Craig for Axel–and that got a giggle. She said he moaned and groaned until he convinced her to stay home and take care of him. He’s still convinced he’s suffering from morning sickness.
A knock at the door has me sliding out from under Craig’s head. Upon opening the door, I see a huge ass teddy bear, shopping and grocery bags, and Chubs’ grinning face. You can’t help but smile when you see him, so I do just that, as I’m waving him in the door.
“I’m making deliveries for the sick today. I just left Bella and she feels bad that Craig’s sick too so she sent him a coloring book and crayons and she made him a get-well card. It’s in the bag with some other things Lucy and I thought he’d like,” Chubs says while placing the bags on the counter in the kitchen and the Teddy Bear on a stool. “Axel is home too. Poor Bailey!”
“What smells so good?” I ask Chubs while I start digging through the bags.
“Ava sent lunch to everyone that’s home with a sick kid, including Bailey. Chubs loves Ava!”
“Oh, wow! How nice of her! I love Ava too!”
Chubs grins and walks over to where Craig is napping on the couch. He puts the back of his hand on Craig’s forehead for a moment and then frowns.
“He still has a fever. Bella’s broke this morning. Is he drinking enough liquids? I stopped on the way here and picked up some Pedialyte and popsicles for him. Maybe those will help,” Chubs says.
“Thank you, Chubs. This was so nice of you and Lucy.”
“I was at the gym earlier today and Pooh was worried about Craig, so I told him I’d stop by and check up on him. No sense coming empty handed,” he answers with a shrug.
Hearing Chubs’ voice, Craig’s eyes open and he grins a little when he sees Chubs.
“Hi, Chubs. What are you doing here?” Craig asks as he sits up.
“Checking up on my little friend. Brought you some popsicles and a few other things. How’re you feeling?”
“Kind of shitty. Even my butt is sick.”
“Craig! Language!” I bark at him while Chubs chuckles.
“Whatever. Thanks for coming to see me Chubs.”
Chubs snatches up the teddy bear and sets it on the couch next to Craig. Even sick, you can see the excitement in Craig’s eyes.
“Holy crap! He’s as big as I am!” Craig exclaims while hugging the huge bear.
“It took me a while to find one in you and Bella’s sizes. Hers is pink and she loves it. She said to tell you to use it as a pillow because they are super soft.”
Craig immediately pulls the bear around and drops his head onto it and then sighs. He grins and Chubs chuckles again.
“You get better, little man, so you can go towing with me again, okay?”
“I will! I love going with you! Thanks for everything! You’re the best, Chubs.”
“You’re welcome. Catch you later, Craig.”
I walk Chubs to the door and give him a quick hug.
“Thanks, Chubs. You made his day.”
“You two are family. I’m always here if you need anything,” he answers with a grin and a two fingered wave as he walks down the walk. Ava isn’t the only one I love.

Cash and I are busy at the gym today with Axel home sick. Even busy, the day is dragging. I want to get back to Pippa’s and check on Craig and I’m getting impatient with the clients. Cash notices, because not much gets past Cash, and he tells me to go do paperwork in the office. He wants me away from the clients and that’s a smart move. If one more bored housewife pats my ass, someone’s losing a hand.
