“I think I wore Craig out. He zonked about an hour ago,” Chubs tells me, smiling.
“Thank you so much, Chubs! I’m sure he had a blast today. He was so excited to go,” I say.
“We had fun. He’s a great kid, Pippa. I really hope things work out for him. Lucy told me what’s up and I know she’s at her dad’s office right now. She won’t give up until she gets what she wants. She’s stubborn that way.”
“I am so grateful, for both of you. Thanks again, Chubs.”
“I loved the company today. I’d like to pick him up again someday, if that’s okay with you?”
“Absolutely! Anytime, just let me know when.”
“I’ve gotta get going. Big club meeting and I have to get to the clubhouse for it. It’s about the club girls and how disrespectful they have become. I’ll see you later, girl. Yeah?”
“Yeah, Chubs. You will.”
I carefully get Craig out of the child seat and snuggle him close, despite the grease and mud covering him from head to toe. Chubs winks and drives off. I carry Craig into the house and to his bedroom. As I’m putting him down on his bed, his eyes open and he grins sleepily.
“Hey, baby, you have fun today?” I ask quietly as I pull his covers over him.
“Yeah, Pips. Chubs is the best. We towed cars and trucks and went on a food walkabout. I’m so stuffed! We ate tons of snacks!”
“A food walkabout? What does that mean, exactly?”
“It’s when you go to several places to get all the foods you like best. Chubs knows all the good places! He is awesome! Tired now, Pippa. I’ll tell you all about our walkabout after I sleep it off.”
I can’t help but smile at him as I place a soft kiss on his forehead, tuck him in and leave him to doze off his food coma.

It’s been a long day and I’m glad to have it finally behind me. Lying in bed, trying to get to sleep, and my mind naturally drifts to Pooh. It’s easy to picture those hazel eyes and smile. And it’s impossible to forget his touch. How he felt when I glided my hands over his skin. His lean, muscular body is perfection. I crave him like I’ve never wanted anything else before. I want him near. I want more time getting to know him and being in his world. But I need a reason to trust him and this latest incident doesn’t help me in that department. I need to talk with him and see if this can be salvaged or not. On that note, I reach for my phone.
Me: Are you asleep?
Pooh: No. Lying in bed thinking about us.
Me: Same. Can we talk? Meet tomorrow maybe?
Pooh: Yes. Definitely. Where/when?
Me: Lunch?
Pooh: I’ll pick you up on the bike at noon.
Me: Okay.
I feel a weight lift off of my gut and I know I made the right decision. Talking it out is better than jumping to conclusions. I think we’re worth a discussion. And Pooh seems to think the same as me.
Pooh: I’d get to sleep quicker if you would tell me a dirty bedtime story. (wink)
I laugh out loud as I read his text. He’s incorrigible. He’s a man, through and through. And I really like that about him.
Me: How dirty?
Pooh: Very!
Me: Once upon a time, a lonely female met a hot biker, and sparks flew.
Pooh: Dirtier, please!
