Cruising around the outskirts of Denver on my Harley is the perfect day for me. I always prefer running errands for the club over working in the gym all day. Not that I don’t like the gym and working with Axel and Cash, but getting outdoors and on my bike is always better. The weather is finally warming up and the snow is gone, so now it’s time to get reacquainted with my ass on the leather seat and wind in my face.

Things have settled down lately at the clubhouse since Ava and Bailey’s troubles have been dealt with. Lucy and Chubs are healed and happy together. That puts a smile on my face. Little Lucy came quietly into our lives but it didn’t stay that way for long. She literally took a bullet to the chest to protect Chubs and that has earned her my respect, loyalty and love for life. And then Bailey put herself at risk to save Lucy and Chubs. Those women!

I love that my brothers have found strong women like Ava, Bailey and Lucy. And Trudy. I can’t leave Trudy out because she is no coward either. She’s gutsy, strong and reliable. Lots of loyalty from those women to my club members. I am ecstatic for my club brothers and their women, but I want that for myself now too.

I never thought I’d want one woman, and only one woman, but after watching my brothers get their HEA, I want it too. But my standards are high and I know I’m going to do a lot of comparing the women already in my life to any new ones I meet. And where am I going to meet a woman that meets all my standards?

I know it won’t be a club girl. They are fun for a night or two but there are none that hang around the Devil’s Angels MC that I’d want to wake up with for the rest of my life. They are all fluff and no substance. Not Ol’ Lady material. And I won’t settle for less.

I slow down and turn right into the lot of the custom bike and auto repair shop the club owns. I walk my bike backwards into a parking slot, shut it off and dismount, leaving my helmet with my bike, and walk into the shop.

“Hey, Pooh, what’s up?” asks Big Petey.

“Payday. Best day ever,” I answer with a smile.

I pull several envelopes from the inside pocket of my cut and hand them to Big Petey. He takes them, flips through and pulls out the one with his name on it and puts the rest near the cash register to hand out later.

“I’m going to the clubhouse next to drop off Rex’s to him. I want to speak with Gunner about buying a chunk of land from the club and building a home. It’s time to have a place of my own and not just be living in the clubhouse. “

“Smart move, Pooh. You won’t regret it. Trudy and I are happy there and she loves being so close to the babies,” replies Petey.

“Yeah, right Petey. It’s just Trudy who loves being near those babies,” I say, teasing him because everyone knows how attached he is to Ava and Gunner’s twin girls.

“Okay, well, I might like them a little, too,” Petey admits, grinning huge.

“I heard that Axel told Bailey he’s ready to start making babies and he’s shooting for twenty to thirty of them.”

“And Bailey told Axel that she’s thinking three. It’ll be interesting to see who wins that one,” laughs Petey.

“Your son’s a fucking nut job.”

“That he is,” Petey says, with obvious affection. He loves that son of his, even if Axel is a few spokes shy of a wheel. And that’s not saying a lot about me because I’m usually at Axel’s side when shit’s hitting the fan. Or, I should say, when we’re making shit hit the fan.

“Hey, fucker, you got my money with you?” asks Trigger, as he enters the front of the shop.

“Nope. Spent it on tits and ass on my way here. Figured at your age, you wouldn’t need it for those necessities anymore,” I answer, grinning at Trigger.

“Fuck you, Pooh! Unlike your pansy ass, I don’t have to pay for tits and ass. It’s freely given and it would be for you too if you weren’t so fucking ugly,” spouts Trigger.

“Can you even get it up, old man?” I continue prodding Trigger.

“It gets up just fine, asshole! You need to quit worrying about my dick and worry more about your own tiny, little cock!” Trigger snaps at me before turning around and storming into the back of the shop. It’s always fun, and never difficult, to buzz Trigger up.

My work here is done.

“Later, brother,” I say to the still laughing Petey.

“Later, Pooh.”

-*- -*- -*- -*-

“Absolutely, brother. Do you know what parcel of land you want to build on?” asks Gunner.

“I’d like the one next to Axel. It has some trees but not too many. It’ll have a large yard and I like that idea. I’ve talked with a couple of contractors about the plans I had drawn up and one of them can get started within a few weeks. The same one that built your house, in fact.”

“We’ll vote on it at Church this week. I don’t see any problems with the guys and you should be able to get started,” Gunner says, confirming what I already suspected.
