“Meet me here after first?” Aurora says as she pulls into our usual spot at school.

“I’ll be here,” I tell her. “What’s so important about first period that you have to be there anyway?”

“Math,” she says. “Math is always important, Mabilia.” Aurora laughs as we make our way into the building.

Chapter Fourteen

Igot a message from Mabilia asking me to meet her at the Starbucks by her school. I’ve been anxious to get my eyes on her all fucking day. I’ve tried not to think about her. But every other minute, she pops into my brain. I’ve never been so consumed by another human before.

It’s alarming and exhilarating at the same time.

I sense her the moment I walk through the doors. She’s sitting at a table in the back of the café. Alone. Her eyes connect with mine as I make my way towards her. My glare travels along her body. She’s wearing a cropped top that ends just under her breasts, which are pushed up with ample cleavage popping out from the V neckline. I tilt my head to the side so I can get a peek of what she has on under the table. It doesn’t get any fucking better.

I stop, remove my jacket, and take the empty seat. “Hey.” I lean in and press my lips against hers. I don’t deepen the kiss like I want to. We’re in a coffee shop, and if I start, I won’t want to stop.

“Hey yourself.” Mabilia smiles. “Miss me?”

“Like you wouldn’t believe,” I tell her. “What happened to your uniform?”

“I skipped school,” she says.

“You skipped school? Why?”

“I had to go shopping.” She waves a hand up and down. “Like my new clothes?”

“I’d like them better on my bedroom floor… and if I never saw them on you again,” I admit as my fingertips trail along the back of her bare shoulder.

“Well, if you’re going to date me, you should get used to me wearing clothes. I can’t be naked when we go out.” The smile she gives me is a well-practiced one. It’s not real, though. I’ve seen her real smile and this isn’t it. She’s doing it on purpose. Playing me.

She’s going to learn real quick that I don’t play to lose.

“Mmm, you should know that when you’re dressed like this… well, let’s just say I can’t be blamed if I throw you down on this table right here and fuck you until you scream so loud the whole city hears you.” I lean down and nibble on her neck, just belowher ear. “I’m not afraid of death, Mabilia. I know doing that would end with a bullet between my eyes, but I’d still do it.”

She swallows. Her pulse picks up in speed. “You wouldn’t,” she says.

My other hand lands on her thigh, trailing upwards as it moves closer and closer to the little slice of heaven I’ve recently discovered. “Do you want to put money on it, babe?”

She shifts backwards and stares into my eyes for a long moment. “Fine. I give up.” She sighs. “Take me to your place and make sure my clothes end up on your bedroom floor.”

I smirk. “Maybe later. First, we have a date,” I tell her. “You ready to get out of here?”

“Yep.” Mabilia stands, and I can’t help the groan that escapes me when I see just how short her skirt is.Fuck me, how is that thing even legal?“Ready? Where are you taking me?” she asks.

“Church. I’m going to have a hell of a lot to confess once I’m done with you tonight.”

“Right, but first you have to commit the sins. So what are we doing?”

I take her hand, and my fingers entwine with hers. It feels right, having her here with me. Touching her. “I thought we’d go to the zoo,” I say.

“The zoo? Really?” Her face lights up. This time with a genuine smile, full of excitement.

“I thought it would be fun.” I lean down and capture her lips with mine again.

“I love Central Park,” Mabilia says.

“Good. Let’s go see some monkeys,” I tell her, opening the passenger-side door.

“I have two younger brothers. Trust me when I say monkeys are overrated.” Mabilia laughs as I buckle my seat belt.
