“I can make it.” Her fingers brushed through my hair, “I’ll be right back.”

By the time she returned, Bell had finished, adding another impressive burp to her morning’s achievements. She sat down with her coffee, placing a second one for me on the table.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

“How did you sleep?”

“All three hours?” She chuckled. “Like the dead.”

“Three hours?” I feigned. Though surely it was more than that, but I knew exactly what had kept her up.

“Yes, three.”

“We’ll have to squeeze a nap in later.”

She sipped her coffee. “Nope, not we, me. Just me. The two of us won’t nap and I’ll turn into a zombie.”

“Sexy zombie.” I placed Bell in her chair and pulled Kit onto my lap, needing to touch her somewhere, anywhere. I settled for wrapping my arms around her, which was the place least likely to lead me into trouble or temptation, or both.

“Murray, is it normal to have this much sex?”

I chuckled into her shoulder. “It’s normal for us.”

She turned to me. “I’m serious. Is this normal? It’s never been like this for me, like I can’t go five minutes without needing you inside me.”

I tried not to laugh at how grave her face was. I personally didn’t see a problem, but if she wanted me to take her seriously, then I would.

“No,” I answered truthfully. “No, I’ve never had anything like this.”

“Do you think there’s something wrong with us?”

“Not in the slightest.” She relaxed against me a fraction. “But I have a great cure if you’re feeling anxious about it…” I waggled my eyebrows suggestively, receiving a deep eye roll in response.

She nestled back into me. “Shall we do something today? Let’s go out. It’s a beautiful day.”

“I’m already way ahead of you.”

“You are?” Her eyebrows shot up in surprise.

“I am…” I grinned. “I’ve ordered a picnic from the deli, which we’re going to collect on our way to the park.”

Her eyes, which were milk chocolate today, sparkled as she clapped her hands together. “That sounds perfect, thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Now if you’d care to go to the front door and retrieve the paper, we can fill out the crossword while we have some playtime with Bell. Then when she’s napping, you and I have a date in the shower.”

My lips found her neck and I didn’t miss her pulse kick at the base of her throat before she ran to collect it.

“Now We Are Six, author?”

“Milne.”

I printed out the letters into the boxes, reaching for a baby tomato and threw it in my mouth before moving onto the next clue.

“Greek philosopher who said, ‘Man is the Measure of All Things’?”
