“Yes,” I muttered. “It’s just Matteo playing his little boss game and using the ‘I saved your life’ card.”

“What did he want?”

I stopped and turned toward her; I had to share. If recent experiences taught me anything, it was to share. “He wanted me to hunt the rat.”

Chapter Nineteen

DOM

My phone beeped and I cursed, looking down at Marco who was laughing from my bed.

Office now or I’ll kill your brother.

“Your father is an asshole,” I grumbled, grabbing the baby and putting him in the baby carrier on my chest before going down to the office.

The three girls were in the greenhouse, and I had wanted to spend some bonding time with my godson… something I was going to regret very dearly in the next few minutes.

I walked into the office to see Luca standing beside the window behind his desk and Matteo sitting on the leather chair across from him.

Luca turned toward me and rolled his eyes. “Really, Dom, again?”

I looked down at the little boy strapped at my chest. I dressed him just like I was dressed in a black faux leather jacket, a white t-shirt, black jeans, and combat boots, and a black wig that mimicked my hairdo.

I shrugged, trying to avoid Matteo’s eyes. “It was my time with him, and I was supposed to be free for another hour.” I finally looked toward Matteo who was looking from Marco to me like I was demented.

“It’s just for fun. I—” I sighed.

Matteo shook his head. “Get your woman pregnant; make your own children clinically insane.”

Getting India pregnant, I’d be lying if I said I didn't think about it. Of course I did. I imagined her full with our child, but it was still much too early. She’d only committed to me a month ago; she needed time.

“Why are you already here?”

He leaned back on his seat and smirked. “I missed you, brother.”

I turned to Luca. I had no time for his games today.

Luca looked at his son again and threw me an exasperated look. I knew it annoyed him when I dressed up the little dude, and I think that was half the fun for me.

“Matteo spoke with Sebastiano Visconti. He agreed to let us come and have a chat with Sergio.”

I raised an eyebrow and looked at Matteo, a little impressed.

Sebastiano Visconti was the head of the Vegas Mafia… In line to become the boss of the West Coast Mafia soon and he was usually very defensive of his territory and the men falling under it.

“What do you have on him?” I asked Matteo.

He let out a short laugh. “Ah, brother, you know me so well.”

I wanted to remind him yet again not to call me that, but he already knew how much I hated it, and I was sure he was doing it just to annoy me. I guess being assholes did run in our genes.

“And what does it have to do with me?”

“I need you to come to Vegas tomorrow.”

“No.” I shook my head.Fuck this shit!I had plans with India! I was finally going to take her to the cabin. I had an engagement ring and everything. “I’ve got plans.”

Matteo rolled his eyes. “Don’t get your panties up in a bunch. Take your girl and make a weekend of it.”
